B/A for a Defender . . . or any other vehicle with a FIXED ROOF . . . this puts a damper on so many of the Reasons we buy a Wranglers/Gladiators in the 1st place ! Now with some modifications (more $$$) you could maybe have some cake and eat it too ?

This is exactly what I want to do.
Do you happen to know where the guy with the black top got his?
I was under the impression that Ali-Cab was developing one to fit but it looks like one of their models already does.

Please share any info you can.
Thanks.
But Wait, there's more . . . just back from the future, where I saw a comment by Eddie on a Forthcoming 2020 NEW ALU-CAB > CANOPY-CAMPER POPUP TENT ! Base weight in the area of ~500-lbs. ? That will be better known once THEY Finalize the Fit & Finish of the GLADIATOR Version of this NEW Canopy-Camper popup ! I'm bookmarked and eager to learn more . Yea, yea I know . . . I already knocked the other post's "heavy Canopy only" product ! But this will have to do (for me) since I can no longer Find the LEENTU WebSite . . . :(, apparently it has been taken down & not sure if the company is having financial issues or what ? So from the LEENTU aluminum/composite Canopy-Camper of ~300lbs. to (possibly) an all aluminum one of ~500lbs. (+200) . ? Yes I'm aware of the "others," but I don't like them . One important & unique feature of this Alu-Cab is how it is mounted - NOT on the Bed Walls via the accessory tie down system . This is mounted to the floor of the bed - much stronger and secure & potentially water tight sealing around the rear swing-open door, which is also nice . This might be adaptable for a Wrangler type drop down table (food prep++) ! Though the Go Fast is lighter, it is "flimsy" in the side hatches department and by nature is "top heavy" (in & of itself) . Of course this changes plans as far as WHICH Gladiator . . . thinking NOW I need to go with the Full Tow Package on a Sport S .
Boy, if they came out with a full size truck version (1500 Quad cab &/or Crew) I'd be inclined to give that consideration .
Feels like Christmas ! Hmmm, wonder WHEN in 2020 ? I could be ready to "pull the lever" on a new vehicle come early Spring - just in time for my Birthday (late Xmas?) . . .  ;)

Not to worry my friend I have since found out the weight of the all aluminum canopy and it is a hare under 500 pounds like you thought...
Actually it’s going to be 140 POUNDS!!!

Very reasonable wouldn’t you say for a canopy that can easily handle a RTT or anything else you may want to throw up there....;-)

As far as I know it is the lightest canopy that can support a heavy weight on it...

Your thinking of the CANOPY ONLY ITEM . . . I'm referring to their all new CANOPY-CAMPER -- it's like the Go Fast Camper, WITH the pop up Tent All-Inclusive ! Yea NICE ! No more dealing with RTT LADDERS . . . Access up into the tent portion much like an Ursa Minor . . . SEE ? They already have it for the Tacoma's of the world - you can see video's of it ! It's the NEW GLADIATOR Fit Design coming in 2020 (early I hope) that Weighs in at ~ 500 ! Perhaps you could YouTube a video or 2 & download - of course it'll be on a Taco most likely, but . . . yea .

Looks like they are more of a slide in type topper. Very close to what I am looking for. I didn't find any price tags on them. Anyone have ballpark pricing?

OH right. The whole camper thing just slides into the existing box? Makes sense.

You enter the tent from the rear of the canvas wall if that makes sense. This would mean that you could not have the wrap around awning deployed as shown in some of their pictures.. Another reason I will not be getting it.
As far as the price I have no idea but would not be surprised if it is North of $10K.
The weight of the unit is about 550 pounds.

Actually they are not a slide in. If you look at the interior pictures you can see the bed of the pick up truck. They do remove the rear tailgate and have a nice hinged door to allow better access to your drawer set if you were to put one in there.

OK, now that I've given this some time . . . I'll "weed-out" some of the "lazy questions" -- by the way, NO pun intended on the "weed-out" :lipssealed: :involve: !
1st, it (should) go without saying that Every personal (or family) situations, needs, requirements, will be Different ! ME ?
Well by now most here will know I am (now) single, older (some would suggest "decrepit," ha), an Apartment dweller (though I do have a detached Apt. Garage (vehicle) and another storage garage (~ 70minutes away - boat). NO house gardening chores, no taking the kids to the Mall (or?), no other chores-items . . . so that leaves me with What Ever Options I Choose ! I can "come & Go" on a Whims-Notice ! Only "issue" I'd have with this or any other Camper / tent that rises above the Vehicle Roof-Line is . . . will it fit in the garage .? Currently NO, but the Apt. Complex has 2 garages with Taller door access and I'm hoping I can get one (1st in line?) at some point . Not even sure it would fit under the available sheltered parking spaces ? Even if I chose just a Standard Height CAP, the mounting bars & system + the height of a RTT would even be Greater & removing /installing the RTT, for me alone, would be Impossible !
So, Eddie has his "solution" and it will work for him . Steffen, always the inquisitive one, won't need this any time soon .
Has anyone gone to OK4WD website ? Videos are available to see, some in foreign languages via YouTube . OK4WD is apparently, for now, the sole USA Distributor for Alu-Cab, though there are a # of Dealers in many States . Even one near you Steff, in Iowa ! Of course this product for the Gladiator won't be available till sometime in 2020 . But it IS available for the Taco & Ranger (+?) . Price, as priced for the Taco short bed (same as Gladiator at 5ft.) BASE Price = $9450 . Pricy, yes, but considering where it is manufactured + shipping cost and any B.S. tariffs (now) . . . Reasonable compared with same style as say, the Go Fast Camper made in Montana . IF the Go Fast were "better" designed to MY liking, I'd buy Local (real local for me) + No Sales tax & Military Discount ! Hmmm, time will tell !?
As I always say, till I actually have a Gladiator ON Order, ALL Options are still on the table and constantly looking for new/better/different ways to go Camping while still feeling like I'm "roughing it" ! :like: Anyone looking for a well kept Kodiak Canvas tent - 9ft x 8.5ft x 6ft1inch (height) ?.

Steffen what I’m referring to is this...

https://www.alu-cab.com/product/land-cruiser-double-cab-explorer-canopy/

I don’t want to have a permanently mounted tent on the top of my truck. I already have a RTT that I will be able to put on top when I actually go camping.
I hope this makes sense.
Perfect. You and I are on the same page. I want their explorer canopy too so I can still use the truck as a truck when need be. I don't have an RTT yet but intend to.
140 lbs is light.. Nice!

Has anyone gone to OK4WD website ?
