I hope to use this as a journal for part numbers, build inputs, and to track progress. I have done many of these Jeep builds on jeepforum, JK forums, and other sites. I have really enjoyed everyones work so far and on categorizing their builds, I am learning from them.

An Island Tale
My wife and I recently moved to the beautiful Island of Guam. While here, we were not intending to do any major purchases or moves financially. Things changed when we saw the new Gladiators on island. There only only a few of them and we decided to move on one of them. There are some strange circumstances in island purchases since the dealer is the lone FCA dealer on island. The other issue arises in that its a lot of money to have anything shipped to the island. Parts, services, upgrades, wheels, tires, all cost so much more here. So with this we have to be very careful with upgrades and value added for the dollar spent. I guess at the end of the day that is something we are all trying to do.

The Name
I have changed it about 5 times, I cant seem to settle on a name and it will change over time, as I build it. The thing is with the ARB lockers, 35 spline shafts, and all the equipment, I was leaning towards an Aussie inspired name. We shall see.

My first real mod was to remove the plastic bumper ends, and plastic air dam.

The second thing I bought was some vent quarter panel decals. They add a bit of depth to the stock inlay vents behind the wheel wells. Its a sticker, decal, vinyl sticker, etc that you place just aft of the vent. I think it turned out quite nice.

NO LIFT on 35's with Mopar Gear Satin Carbon Wheels.
Part Number 77072471AB

49657852116_b8a0863f90_b.jpg

35 12.50 R 17 General Grabber and 17x8.5 wide with 5.22 BS mopar gear wheels. The combo wheighs in at 77 lb tire 31 lb wheel. This was before my lift. No rubbing lock to lock. And fine if you chose to get the tires installed first and the lift later. The way my build was going I decided to get the dealer to add this to the BOS and get my Mopar Lift to install on my own.

Great choice on rims! Tires too. Going to look even better with the lift.

The Name
Orange Justice is a dance my kids do from Fortnite. When I brought it home they all had ideas for names but when I called it Orange Justice the kids were seemingly overjoyed by my nick name for the truck. So its now official. We make Jeep a family affair and every Wrangler I have had has become part of the family.

Part Numbers for the Mopar 2" (3") Gladiator Lift Kit. 3.6L Engine Parts are listed in the manual as follows. You could buy these parts alacarte (individually) to make your own kit.

68436806aa front spring
68436807aa front spring
68436808aa rear spring
68436809aa rear spring
68316568ab Front Fox Shocks
68316678ab Rear Fox Shocks
68436812aa Rear Sway Bar Links
68306981aa Front Sway Bar Links
68316587aa Front Bump Stops
68316588aa Rear Bump Stops
68322798aa Front Control Arms
6101695 Nuts (6 Total)
05143356ac Bolts for Bump Stops (4 Total)
82215764 Jeep Performance Parts Badge Emblem
68427380aa Spring Perches ( New Part numbers to stop spring bowing )
68342250ac Spring Perch ( New Part to stop springs from bowing )

The 168 lb box ships to the dealer only. Guess what I had to pay for my lift. 1700 USD out the door. Yeah, Island prices are rough and I could have saved a couple hundred dollars state side. I still love that I saved the cost of labor on this install and did it in my driveway with my tools amassed over the decades of Jeep Builiding.

DAY 1 OF THE LIFT INSTALL (3 HOURS TO DO THE FRONT FROM TIRES OFF TO TIRES ON)

Stock thinner spring on the left is the old part, on the right is the taller thicker spring. These control the 108 lb tire and wheel combo much better and offer a more controlled feel to the lifted vehicle. Mopar nailed down this spring to the right size for sure.

point.

49657852026_98df49da27_b.jpg

Out with the old and in with the new.

49657309608_572945c62a_b.jpg

Old Spring perches vs the new ones, they allow the spring to sit in the cup with better placement to mitigate spring bowing.
49657308158_f7a2c74d1a_b.jpg

The new control arms are about a quarter inch longer to make up for the lift height. It also has the rubber flex joints unlike the hard rubber of the stock Jeep arms. Mopar being Jeeps part department offered a better arm here to help off road articulation. I am really happy with the build quality and strength in these arms.
49657307983_0b9e3cbebc_b.jpg

The solid rubber vs the pivot joint rubber design of the new lower front control arms.

49657848526_e2e8835c0a_b.jpg

After installing the shocks, springs, bump stops, and sway bar links; I left everything loose to do the other side.

49658122182_a7f56b83da_b.jpg

Shortly after the left side the right side went together. It took roughly an hour per side and some time inbetween to get everything retightened and dropped down on tires.

Lessons Learned. The bump stop extension cup at the bottom of the spring is a pain to tighten while the spring is in place. This eases install of the spring but makes it difficult to install the bolt under the front bump stop. I used a 4 inch pittsburgh c-clamp from harbor freight with rubber pads that are also sold at harbor freight. Cinch a c-clamp inbetween the spring coils and hold tight while you install the nut from under the spring mount perch. Super easy at that

49657305448_a79c8a3846_b.jpg

This may sound silly but I asked my wife and kids to come out and join me for some fun around the Jeep. They brought out the switch, my oldest handed me tools, and my daughter rode her bike. It was awesome and I had a blast doing this.

DAY 2 OF THE LIFT INSTALL (1 HOUR TO INSTALL COMPLETE REAR SUSPENSION)

The springs on this end of the truck are much beefier. The suspension overall has a very tough build quality and should last for years. The rear bump stop brackets were a cinch to install with the included hardware and required two 1/2 inch open ended wrenches but I used a ratcheing style dogbone on the top and they went in quick.

Lessons learned here: the new springs are harder and taller. You will need someone to stand on the axle to get it to drop if you do not loosen the control arms. I left them all tight and had a helper jump on the axle as I used a crowbar to slide the spring into place. It went in with a delightful thud and boing.

I took off the Trail Rated Badge. Now dont get me wrong, I loved it when they started to include these on the Jeeps years ago, even when others thought it was cheesy; however, I have an even better replacement. It came with the Mopar Fox lift.

Cup Holders are not removable and it bugs me. I ordered some of these to give me the ability to pull up the pads in case of spills.
