37" Nitto Ridge Grappler on 17x8.5 Method 701 did not fit for me. Aired down to 18psi and still no go. Not enough room between hitch and trackbar. The hitch seems to protrude into the spare tire area quite a bit.

This is a stupid question but does putting a heavy spare put a lot more strain on the coils? I don't really need the spare underneath and I like the extra lift I have in the rear. I have a really huge 35 Duratrac with heavy Moto Metal rims.

How do you like the ridge grapplers? What did you end up doing for a spare?

Stupid question- is there a skid plate or anything protecting the tire in the area of the spare? I wonder because it seems that many of those tires are like three-ply sidewalls if I remember correctly. It appears that if you drag your rear- you might be pulling your tire. With such a long wheelbase vehicle, I would image something to prevent poping of the tire offroad on rocks.

Maybe I'm just overthinking.

What is the wheel's offset?

One issue I wonder about is the wheel's offset or backspacing and if/how that affects the tire fitting since I haven't gotten under the Gladiator to try fitting one of my 4 tires (would obviously have to remove a wheel/tire and manhandle it under the truck and try lifting it up to fit, etc.).

Would be helpful to know about the wheels' offset and if that is a factor?

I dont think the offset would have anything to do with the spare fitting. The wheel width however would as it would change the change the bulge of the tire.

Anyone tried the General Grabber A/TX 37x12.5/R17 size? I was thinking of going that route but now wondering if the Milestars are going to be better for fitment...
It was reported previously that the General Grabber X3 will not fit. It should in a post in this thread
