A few years back, I was going to buy an AEV JK350 with the Hemi. It was in Canada, still under FCA and AEV warranty. I called AEV and they said don't touch it, unless you are within a few miles of Canada. They said FCA is the only American Auto that is not covered over the borders ( north or south.)
Sorry to hear that they were correct. Only thing I could think would be to drive back over the border ( when it opens to us to go over again.)

Best of luck to you.

3rd party service contracts are a scam. Been there done that and learned the hard way. Not much help, but agree... get it back to Canada if at all possible.
Absolutely this. Factory warranty (and extended service plan if desired) or NOTHING. Period.

Man, I hate to hear that. I hope you're at least able to recoup some of the cost from the selling dealer. Dealers will make or break you with the FCA warranty. A good dealer will get you covered, the slimeballs will claim outside influence and screw you. However, when dealing with aftermarket warranty, you're on very shaky ground and the best dealer in the world can't help you beyond telling the warranty company what needs repair.

I’d bring back to nearest Canadian dealer and have the work done under warranty.
Good luck with that, our border is closed to Americans till further notice due to Corona. Even family members can't get across to see each other.

So wait I’m confused as I’ve never even been to Canada before but I’m planning on taking my diesel across Canada and to AK next year...

if I have a breakdown in Canada will I not be covered? That’s shocking

That is correct. Works both ways as I know it. If US not covered out of US. Canadian out of Canada not covered.
This is only on FCA vehicles. Ford, GM can cross and honor warranties. I don't know about foreign automakers.

I think it started when Daimler - Benz bought out Chrysler. Just stayed that way when Fiat bought it.

Wow, I didn't know this....that sucks. I planned a road trip down to Utah with my family once the Corona thing clears up and the borders are open. I can't imagine having the tranny die or something and not being covered.

That's the way it was a few years back. I would call FCA Warranty or Jeep cares for the latest info.

I finally got in touch with the claims department about the report. Warranty company blames the service department I took it to. I tried to cancel, but the customer service rep couldn't get ahold of a manager.

I was told the keyfobs had been tampered with, and would not be covered. (Which isn't the case, but they were firm on that)

The steering issues were blamed on the aftermarket wheels and tires. They suggested I install stock Overland wheels and tires. Basically, if the tech can't point to a part and say "See where this is broken?" then it won't be covered.

As for the window seal leak, I was told to take the vehicle to a different dealer for them to verify the leak and show that to the adjuster.

So basically the rear window is the only thing that MIGHT be covered, but I'd have to pay the diagnostic fees again and go through the entire process again.

The original dealer this Jeep came from has been unresponsive.

The take away here, as many of you have mentioned, is don't buy a vehicle with an aftermarket warranty.

I hope me learning the hard way helps someone else avoid the same issues!

The warranty is through CAN AM, and they use Premier dealer services for claims.

To follow up on this whole story (4 months later)...

I worked with the original dealership out of state, and a different local dealer service department and finally got the repairs completed. The local service department was able to prove to the warranty company adjuster that my Jeep did in fact have problems. The warranty company decided to cover the repairs, but not all the labor, stating that the 'labor rates were too high'. So that left me paying a couple hundred dollars out of pocket. Luckily, I was able to get the original dealership I bought the truck from to reimburse me.

So now I have a truck that doesn't leak, and drives much better with the new steering box! The only thing I paid out of pocket that won't get reimbursed was the diagnostics fees at the first dealership I took it to. Sucks, but better than the total $3,500 repair bill.

Fingers crossed for no more warranty issues.

Thanks to all who offered guidance here.

I'm not a huge fan of getting JeepCares involved into every little problem folks have but I would think this is the exact kind of situation they are here for. If I was in your shoes I would reach out to them.
