So i took a few off the face this past summer, about 20-30 mph (40-60 km/h) windows down and the angle of the mirrors send harder body or larger bugs right into my face or side of head, worst one was a wasp stung me as it bounced into side of my head off the mirror then ricochet off my head out the back window which was down also, kids thought that was hilarious. I keep it together just fine as a couple decades of motorbikes and several stings even having them land in my lap between legs/nuts and gas tank so this was easy peasy in comparison the rodeo's i've had on two wheels. Still...

Jeep, wtf, fix that shat. The mirrors should not be sending bugs into thy face.

Anyone else eating some bugs? Luckily nothing has hit me in the eyes yet.
Keep your head inside the truck while driving, you should see a dramatic decrease in bugs hitting you.

Seriously no I've never had this as an issue, even driving through swarms of insects.

ya it takes a fairly solid bug i think, and the right speeds, where they simply bank off the inside of the mirror instead of becoming one with the mirror ;) so i think the first three for me were likely shelled bugs like small beetles or ladybug type as hitting them in that 20-40 mph range, i think two hit me in the cheek/side of head and one in the neck and then that big wasp in the side of the head as i was swinging into the turn lane and slowing down from faster speeds, anyway all, keep it in mind, haven't had this with other vehicles, i had all that in one summer with the Jeep, we don't have much for bugs in the winter here ;)

Maybe you should be wearing a helmet? You might find it will protect you in other operations throughout your day as well.

I’ve experienced this as well - especially summer nights with the headlights on. I chalked it up to the cost of doing business. I usually drive my JT with a big, dumb smile on my face - now I just keep my mouth closed!

That's now three of us being clobbered by unrestrained bugs. We may have the beginning of a class action suit (although I'm not sure exactly who we would sue for damages)!

I'm not going to beetle 'bout the point here: this "let's sue!" mentality really bugs me. It just flies in the face of what North America is all about. It really stings to hear people complain about the best vehicle currently available and if successful, Jeep may moth-ball the JT like they did the Scrambler! Don't bee one of those annoying gnats of whiners that can't accept personal responsibility! If you are: buzz off!

Wait till you have a big spider rappelling from your dash on to your bare leg "wearing shorts" then run up leg and try to camp out in your pants leg area while driving at night.... It's really fun at 55 mph or more.... Baggy shorts can be comfortable but not then. ;) I'm not really timid about spiders but it's a real WTF moment.

It’s a good thing it wasn’t sling shotted up your shorts by the mirror lol

I had a Queen hornet hit me chest about 40 mph on my motorbike, cafe style bike so pretty sport oriented. She dropped into my crotch gas tank interface while I was on way to gym wearing pretty thin lulu lemon shorts. That, I can assure you is a rodeo. She got me about 3 times on the inside of my thigh right up next to the nads. Swole up like the continent of africa about 1/2” deep for a week, most of my inner thigh size continent of swelling. Quite uncomfortable and when it was going through those itchy stages of healing where you just want to touch it all over gently but you can’t really scratch because that would be pain lol.

I’ll take the wasp off the side of the head over that any day. One sting and she was gone out the back window but if I took that in the eye it could have been awful.

The hornet in the crotch I stood up and smashed her with leather gloved clutch hand and she was hanging on all six legs just pumping that stinger...oops, I actually had to grab her and half my thigh in the process to get her off and I could feel her crunch through the glove on that second swipe at her as she was a big girl and lulu lemon shorts provide plenty of stick for those feet to hang on like spider man. Pretty impressed I stayed shiny side up, been riding a long time so I’m sure that helped. But a Queen hornet lettin loose right beside the jewels is rodeo worthy event, a story I wish I couldn’t tell.

I saw a documentary about bees suing the human race, maybe we can do the same but in reverse?

Would folding the mirror help?
You don't need it driving forward. Shoulder check and rearview mirror will get the job done without having a usable driver door mirror.

i live and die by the 3" convex mirrors i stick on every single vehicle i ever own, so no it's not really an option, this is more of an awareness thing. I may have to come up with a fix, little piece of L-bracket screwed to the side of mirror to ensure all bugs become one with the jeep instead of my face...
