Got hit while sitting at a light this morning. Girl was 17 and terrified, had no idea what to do. Her hyundai was cought on my hitch so her day was way worse than mine. Anyway, gonna get an estimate for the repars and see what it nets me. If it’s just the bumper then I think it’s time for an upgrade. Anyone else been corn-holed? And what was the extent of the damage?

Looks like you got lucky and only boofed the bumper...upgrade is the way to go!

Feel bad for the kid though...sounds like you were kind to her. No air bags on her part? Good luck...

No airbags and I actually felt really bad for her. She said it was her first accident and vas visibly shaken. I told her now that the first one’s out of the way, they’re gonna get easier as time goes on.?

Thanks for the offer! I’m already thinking about the RR bumper myself...

I’ve got an overland like you and I really like the look of your bumper. I’m getting older and climbing into the bed just keeps getting tougher, how well do the integrated steps work? Are there holes for the rear led license plate lights?

That's a very kind offer from you, James. Justin - Here's an idea. If it is just your bumper that needs to be replaced with no other damage and you want to pass on additional kindness to this girl (and hopefully teach her something that she may pass on later in life), then accept the new condition bumper from James and install it while you save for the upgraded bumper. Merry Christmas to her, especially if she doesn't turn it into insurance, which will drastically increase her rates. So glad to hear your positive attitude in accepting her mistake and having compassion. If any of my kids were in an accident, I would hope they would be interacting with someone like you. Merry Christmas to you!

Be sure to not over look the hitch, doubt it is damaged but just a cracked weld or bolt could really ruin your day in the future. Sounds like you were a nice person to run into!......Jack

I got rear-ended last February. It was a Nissan Altima. She barely bent my hitch and scuffed the bumper. (Her Nissan was MUNCHED!)

Shop said they had to replace the entire hitch. I said, "Cool. Just put the old hitch in the bed when you remove it." Of course, this baffled them. My truck sat for a month, untouched while they were, "Waiting on parts". When I got the truck, the plastic pieces from the original bumper were in the bed, but no hitch. No doubt they sold it. So, they got a really lousy review when the survey came my way. (Maybe not coincidentally, when my truck got hail damage in July, that shop was not recommended by my insurance company.)

I'm thinking about new bumpers as well. I want to go aluminum on the front to save weight. Any reason to not go aluminum for the rear bumper?

Doubt it is. What speed was she going at? There would be a LOTTTTT more damage to consider frame issues. Sounds like you could use an alignment maybe. Check your track bar/steering underneath for anything that may look amiss.
