Is anyone in CT with the ability to add this code to my JT?

Are the JScan changes for this mod something I will potentially have to do again if I take the JT to the dealer and they flash the vehicle for any reason?

Depends what module they flash. If it’s the PCM, no. If for any reason they replace the BCM, there is a recall or TSB that involves new BCM software, or they perform a “restore vehicle configuration”, then yes, all the settings will be reverted.

Can that can be avoided if I convince the dealer to add the option code to my vehicle in their system?

Yes, but the sales code for passive entry is not available to add for your vehicle. You have to convince the service advisor to call his area rep, who, in turn has to call corporate and ask them to make the sales code available for your VIN. They can easily say “no, end of story”. They are severely cracking down on what sales codes are allowed for VINs after the fact.
It’s really not a big deal to do it yourself, and probably cheaper than the dealer visit. It is rare that the BCM needs to be flashed by the dealer, and if it is, you just take the 30 seconds to enable the feature again.

30 seconds plus the time to pull the cables down, insert the bypass cable - and in my case, wait a few minutes for jscan to decide to show me all of the screens for my truck. It took longer for jscan to show me the screens needed (it's like it didn't realize it was a JT for a few minutes) than it did for me to get to the screens. No, I have not changed them yet because I haven't gotten the parts, but I was surprised at the slow response from jscan and how long it took for it to finally say - 'oh, you want THESE screens, ok, here they are'

(My wife wants me to see if I can set the NAV to allow addresses be put in while moving. Ticks her off to no end that she can't enter addresses while I am driving. Same on her GC - I would enter the address while she's driving but it won't let me.)

True, exaggeration based on people’s abilities, and whether or not they leave the bypass in. The reality is, it’s not a big deal at all. I don’t even use the security gateway bypass, I just built a stand alone OBD port for the interface, plug it into the canbus junction blocks by the glovebox, and leave it hidden there. Factory OBD port and security gateway still in tact.

The passenger harness hasn't arrived yet, but I went ahead and did the driver side today.

Good news is, it's installed and working. JScan update was simple.

Bad news is one of the two window regulator bolts sheared off. Too much loctite I guess. So my next project will be to replace the window regulator. :( Thankfully the window is still working with one bolt for the moment.

Got the kit today, right after the cold front and rain came thru. Guess I’ll have to wait for better weather

Package arrived today - yeah, oddly enough, FEDEX pulled into our drive. THANK GOODNESS I took the time to put the blade on the lawn tractor and moved snow yesterday or I guarantee they would NOT have gotten back out today. That drive is a hill- uphill to the road, about 125' or so up hill and it slants a bit to the west to drain the summer rains (and snow melt in the winter)
More than one vehicle has ended up very stuck in the yard.
Anywho - just in time for our big wet snow and temps dipping into the teens and highs in the 20s for the foreseeable future. Guess it all sits in the box for a few weeks now. Bummer - a week earlier and it would all be installed!

I'd like to know how that turns out......... I can make it work of course with jscan or AlfaOBD but still.......
(once we get to better weather, that is. Ugh, not used to the teens)

FedEx brought me mine today--tracking said it wouldn't be here until tomorrow. I was pleasantly surprised!

In spite of cold here (exterior temp ~25° F), I couldn't let things sit in the box for a minute longer. At 7pm, I went out to a cold, non insulated garage & fired up the space heater. Inside the garage, I could still see my breath in the air when I exhaled.

It took no more than 20 minutes to change out both door handles & end caps.

I then moved on to the driver side door. Having watched the youtube video at least 4 times, it was easy to proceed from memory. After I had the outer door panel removed, i clicked a photo so that I'd be sure I could put everything back the same way.

By 9:00, I was done with the driver side, so I hooked up the 12+8 bypass cable & OBDLink MX+ and fired up AlfaOBD to "add the sales code". A few, short minutes later (9:20), the driver side was working! Wahoo!!! It was time to put the kids to bed,so I took a break.

I started on the passenger side about 9:50, and by ~11:00, I was putting tools away, and got back inside to the warmth. Both sides are working now! It took me ~3.5 hours from start to finish.

Many thanks to those who figured out how to do this! Thank you to @AllMoparParts.com for putting the parts kit together for us. Aside from having my dash panels painted hydro blue to match exterior (like the CJ5 I drove in high school), I'm sure this will be one of my favorite mods!
