That’s what is weird. My dealer said just take off the aluminum piece connecting brace to steering. No problem. Took 5 minutes. Every dealer is different I guess. Hopefully you can take it to another dealer and still get it done. It’s frustrating because if Jeep didn’t have a bad steering system in the first place none of us would have spent $250 to add the synergy brace!
It`s frustrating because i offered to take off the aluminum piece also but Jeep Cares does not seem to understand and believes the BS the dealer is feeding them, the steering box can be installed with zero issue. I could do it myself in about an hour. Frustrating to say the least.

It does show on the paperwork and the wrong part number is on the part too!
They just missed the JT has a different part number.
Where did you get the work done? I'm in San Diego also.

While in for a Wave Service, asked about the steering TSB. They ordered the parts right away, no questions. Parts came in last Saturday, (three weeks). They installed today. Works great! Much better than stock, especially when tires are aired to factory specs! Don’t plan on leaving them that way but very happy with the change!

I’ve scanned a lot of the pages in this thread and I’m trying to determine if my 20 Mojave has the aluminum steering box. I had this TSB done to a 19 JLUR I just sold and it was a game changer. Can I just eyeball the box? Is it obvious which you have? I’m very familiar with underside elf the Jeep, but wasn’t sure what the method of identification is. My 19 JLUR definitely had the aluminum originally so I never had to look.

Yes, you may have to rummage through the pages but there are photos of the new (black) gear. People have also managed to get a phone under the fender to snap a photo of the part #

Just lift your inner fender liner a hair and you should see if its the black or aluminum one.

get the TSB done. Depending on when the vehicle was made you may need it. My 2021 Sport S definitely needed it. My parts came it and Tuesday, they do the TSB.
Wait wait, I thought all 2021’s had the updated box? Mine is perfect, but I did adjust the tire pressures down from 39 cold to 33 cold, that made a difference.

I checked cold pressures this morning. 39,39 fr and 39,36 rear. Not enough to matter I would think but I got them all to 37. Maybe a slight improvement but overall still constantly correcting the steering on the highway. Maybe the new boxes are hit or miss or maybe there is an alignment issue out of the gate. It only has 250 miles on it so far and was built just this month.
Those are still too high imho

If the 2021 was built before a certain date in August (not sure of the day off hand but it's in the thread somewhere) then it was built with the old box and would be subject to the TSB. Most 21's should have the new box, but there will be a few of the earliest built with the old box.

Thanks for the info, never looked at my 2021, but I had a late October built date and zero steering issues at all. Interestingly we also have a very early 2018 JLUR and the steering is perfect, and I know that has the old box....weird.

Love y'all. Here's the new box again.
After a Misfits We Are 138....pages. The common theme here is PM @JeepCares
Let them do their work.

I'm totally sorry for all those that have been given the run around by dealers. I know mine wanted to charge me $160 if it was not the box. Let Jeepcares give you a customer rep. I literally had the same one the whole time. Like ONE GUY. Mine was Julian. I'll buy him a beer if I meet him IRL. I literally spent like 5 min on the phone. He was the best. Beat up the dealer and even helped me troll them. (he knew when my dealer got the parts and called me first....we waited to see if they would call me....they did) I think they like threatening dealers with involving FCA.
I gave him a baller review and even suggested they clone him.

Ok guys, finally got the JT back tonight. 3 months of going around in circles with the dealer and Jeepcares. Once Jeep was involved parts magically arrived in less than a week! Took it in and dropped off was told it would be ready Monday, well it wasn’t. Then told first thing Tuesday morning. It wasn’t! Finally get the ok to pick up @ 5pm. It definitely handles 1k% better. However I believe they installed the wrong part. (Surprise surprise) I’m just tired of this crap and about to trade it in! I want to love the Jeep experience but it’s just not working out. I think I’m done with Jeep.

68507569AA. It’s the wrong one! Which not really sure how considering the vin was used by Jeep to get things rolling.
