Totally new to this and I'm certain this has been discussed before but I know that size, strength and rigidity of sway bars can significantly affect ride (upgraded them in my own vehicles over the years) but do quality sway bar disconnects cause any slop or loosening of the ride on pavement, generally speaking?--Do they "give" more than a normal stock linkage? I am looking at the following links that are adjustable and quick disconnects for my lifted Willys. I'd assume, (with anything) that they are a potential point of failure, but what isn't market or aftermarket...

Thoughts? I don't rock crawl but do cross washed out roads quite often trying to find hard-to-reach stretches of river for fly fishing. I know that JKS disconnects are popular but is it true they entail cutting things whereas this kit is just bolt-in?

interesting, I’ve been researching disconnects too tonight, have similar question. I too noticed that the JKS kits for JT/JL require cutting off a tab. The JK versions did not have any cutting of stock metal. I looked at one other kit from Rubicon and requires cutting too. I’ll look at the link you provided above.

I’m not too inclined to be cutting any tabs off my rig.

just looked closely at the Synergy notes and cutting is required too

  • For stock height vehicles, the sway bar links must be installed in the stock location on the axle and the passenger side sway bar tab needs to be removed. No front bump stop spacing is required.

I have (or am getting) a mopar lift so I'd assume that I do not need to remove that tab?... Anyone know? Also, I'm assuming that once that tab is gone you some kind of ability to use stock linkages?

I actually prefer the JKS based on it's track record so that's good to know. I'll shoot them a call or e-mail and verify that with my lift I don't have to cut. Thanks for weighing-in!

I have the Teraflex disconnects and there was no cutting required. They worked great both when I just had a leveling kit and now with my new AEV setup. They do require some maintenance (have to be greased) so that may be a no go for some. They disconnect and reconnect in seconds and I saw no issues in ride quality while connected. They did need to be re torqued after 100 miles or so as the brackets loosed up. Have stayed tight since.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't mind greasing. Just to check but were you already levelled or lifted when you installed them? Have you needed to re-torque them at all since? I'm assuming torquing them back in doesn't require lifting?

thanks again!

I was leveled whenI installed them. I did not have to lift the vehicle to install or re torque. Just as an FYI my suspension is a combo of AEV(springs, shocks ), Metalcloak(track bars), and Teraflex (disconnects). All work together beautifully.

How are you liking those teraflex disconnects?
