Sorry - you must not have understood my sarcasm. I bought my JTR 6MT specifically because it had two live axles. Just like my 03 Land Rover Discovery. So - pretty sure you and I agree that IFS is NOT desirable and the perfect example of why ford is just doing it wrong...
You are right, thats my bad for being overly defensive for the solid axle haha. I figure if my 56 year old mother has no issues with the ride on her 2 door JK, then nobody should

Wrangler has two engine options more powerful than anything the Bronco is going to have, and the reliability of the pentastar is worth the trade off of the extra 25 horses the 2.7 ford has. Not to mention, neither vehicle should be looked at for its power output anyways
It's the powerband, not the overall numbers. I've been in an F150 with the 2.7. I thought it was gonna be super lame, but that thing scoots. The pentastar is, by all objective standards, simply "adequate". Not underpowered, but certainly not powerful. I'd much rather have max torque down low. The driveability is much smoother. I'd even sacrafice payload and towing numbers for a more useful everyday powerband.

Max torque at 4k+ just isn't ideal. It isn't. The diesel is fine, but heavy and expensive. Base engines to Base engines, Ford takes the nod here. I'm not a Ford guy myself, but give credit where it's due.

The 2.7 isnt a base engine though. Its a nearly $3500 option on broncos. If youre spending that much extra id expect it to be a LOT better than the pentastar

My bad for not appreciating that sarcasm and the interwebs don't mix well sometimes. I should have used an emoji or something but I don't know the meaning of all of them. I'm getting too old for this stuff too - we're good and I suspect you and I would enjoy a beer trailside if we ever met. My mother is from no indoor plumbing era ?

Funny Ford released the Bronco "Sport" first which is not the real Bronco. A lot of people are saying they think the new Bronco looks like crap! Made like a cheap fleet car! Ford should have used different name for the Sport.

Another OEM coming to play is the best thing that could happen to the Jeep brand TBH.

I came from a Ford family, I put down a deposit on a Bronco. But, the endless delays, and ultimately deciding I need more utility than a 4-door SUV led me to the JT. Not looking back at all... Ford is going to put forward a competitive offering - that's ok.

I just sold my 69 Bronco that I had for 25+years. But now I have a Mojave.......and a brand new side by side. Ha! But deep down I miss my 69 so its hard to look at these new ones.

I ordered two.. The 2.7 in the Bronco is 10 yrs ahead than the 3.6 we drive. And I do think Jeep will have a new motor. And dash.

I have had two Broncos a 74 and a 92 both were 302 powered. I was interested until the engines were reveled. Ford sold me a turbo Mustang in 80 1K after the warranty was up turbo died and cost of repair was 60% of the cars value. I'm happy with my Gladiator.

They came out with the new Broncos II before the real bronco.

Love my gladiator so ill keep it till its "time" to change. With that said, the replacement will likely be an electrified truck of some sort. I suspect the Bronco truck and electrified versions of both Gladiator and Bronco will be an option. The Bronco seems to be less hampered by design constraints but lets see how reliable they turn out to be....Ford. There should be plenty of 3-4 year old Broncos out there by the time an electrified truck hits the market and we should have some reviews on the electrified wranglers by then too.

I like the design of the Bronco....Its designed to hit a broader segment of the market than Jeep. It will likely have 80-90% of Jeep's off road capability but the reality is most jeep owners dont even use 50% of that!
I suspect the more hardcore off roaders will want the live axles.

It's not the 25hp people are going to like over the Pentastar, it's the 140 ft lbs of torque. And with mild tunes were talking about 75hp and 180ft lbs over the Pentastar. The EcoBoost Fords are impressive I've got a 3.5 150 rated to tow 12k pounds. Everything in that truck is undersized for that load except for the engine. The 2.7 isn't all that far behind the 3.5. I'd love an engine like that in the Gladiator. Get an extended warranty and some MBI and don't worry about it for 100k miles.
