Been happening here for over 10 years. Non citizens from Mexico scavenge everything. Leave a broken appliance on the street for pick up and overnight, it is stripped of any thing copper. Cats are rich in platinum. And it will get worse thanks to...
Weird thing to throw the blame on non-citizens. It's usually meth heads stealing everything including what is bolted down.

Thank you. I enjoyed your account of the situation.

This ain't that kind of thread - please don't add the commentary.

You got jacked?
You know someone who got jacked?
You didn't get jacked?
You don't know anyone who got jacked?

Or some variant.

Just watching a thing with cat converter thefts exploding nationally and wondered if it's a JT thing.

So far, it ain't no thing!

It’s been a thing for a good long while in general. As far as Jeep’s specifically, I don’t know. When shitbags figure out a way to make free money they gonna do shitbag shit to get it.

You can only hope that you have just got home from a road trip when they come looking for yours. They cut through the cat and it smacks them in the forehead.

I asked this earlier because 2 separate groups have been arrested in the past month in my small town. The consensus then was that the double cats on the gladiator are hard to reach. I'm still looking at options.

Thought I tagged you in original post, my bad. Saw your thread, then got peppered today with graphs showing huge cat theft incline Jan Feb lots of places. It's been a thing, but other than yours not too many mentions on the forum. Thought we could get an update. Seems like it ain't a jeep thing. On a related note, lots of caterwauling when these came out about soft top thefts. Not to many mentions there either. Not reading about vandals or outright steals. Maybe a little less crime than some feared with these. With lots of ogelers, looky loos, and jealous future bronco owners, guess it's always a concern curious onlookers might get grabby. :like:

Honestly I leave my soft top unlocked just in case, but I park it outside with the doors off all summer too. We get a bunch of stolen catalytic converters in waves in my town, but live between cities nicknamed Mantweeka and Methdesto. So it's to be expected. Our PD offers free engraving every once in a while for if they do get stolen. Lifted trucks/suvs tend to be the primary targets here.

Nope, it is right by the loop under the driver floorboard.
Driver Side?

Looks kinda difficult to get to the Cat on a JT/JT. If the the scumbag is in for the precious metals, sure he can get a sawzall up in there.

Happened to our company F150 truck in the parking lot of the business. They were recorded but never caught.

It is a HUGE thing right now in Ohio. With battery powered Sawzalls they can do it so quick before anyone notices.
Agreed. I am originally from Portsmouth, the whole area is well into the 3rd generation on welfare and there's a huge drug problem there. So much so that the local health and police departments are asking citizens to carry Narcan to help with the overdoses. Cat theft is quick and easy and the local scrap dealers offer top dollar.
