New Jeep owner, need help with wheels tires

Hello, just purchased a 2021 Gladiator. I’m looking to change the wheels and tires and feel really stupid trying to learn it all, so thought I’d come here for help. Mine is sting gray, and I want to use an all black matte wheel. I do not want anything wild, more of a rugged style but Hoover the top. ths is where I really need help....I am cool with 33 or 35 inch tires, but I’d prefer to not have the tires stick out not much at all. So I am just not sure about do I need a 20x10 or 18x9 it really is Chinese to me. I’d just like a rugged looking tire, that I can also drive 5 hours on a road trip and it be comfortable and not super loud. Any help I’d really appreciate! And it would be great to see photos if you have a build you think fits me. Also, if there is another thread like this I should read I apologize, I’m new here. Thanks

re: 33 vs 35
Do you live in the hills at all? 35s will be a drag esp on the highway if you have 3.73 gears (i.e. don't have a Rubicon, Max Tow, or Mojave).

Do you tow at all? Again 35s will be a drag on 3.73.

I have 35s on 3.73 and it's fine in town and flat highways. When I go to the Sierras it's a real bear getting up the highway.

re: tire width
If you don't want it to stick out you may not want a 12.5 wide. Factory is 10.5 wide, going to 12.5 is going to require you to push the tire outboard at least some. If you don't go to 12.5 and stick with an 11.5 or even 10.5 wide you can keep them tucked better. if some poke is okay then you can keep 12.5s somewhat tucked but they will stick out.

re: wheel size
17s or 20s are more common, 18s are more limiting. if you do go to 12.5 wide most mfg state at least 8.5 wide. If you stick with 10.5 basically anything you see should be fine, though wider is often better.

This is very helpful, thank you very much. So I don’t really live in the hills nor will I go up too many (unless I drive over to the Smokey Mountains) I would highly doubt I’ll ever do any real off roading, most that will be done I’d to drive over land to survey (wife is real estate agent and we used our Range Rover a lot for that) So I really just want to have a better, rugged look, but really do not want that to create difficulties in comfort or drive. I anticipate driving this to the gulf a cpl times a year(6-7 hour drive)

and I have an Overland, so assume I have the gear you described. Maybe 33’s make more sense for me? Thank you for all the other details, very helpful

Either 33 or 35 will work then. Anything from 10.5 to 12.5 depending how much you want poking out. Just whatever you'd like. Once you decide on tire you can determine your rims. Your tire will determine how wide you need and how much backspacing you need. Don't skimp on width (but also don't overdo it).

33s will be better mannered and drive better esp on the highway on your truck imo, 35s look more full.

The KO2 is usually the go to tire that's off road capable but has great road manners and is quiet as an off road capable truck tire will be.
