I realize there are other threads on the Jeep Adventure Academy, but decided to start a new one showing some of the trails at the Llano, Texas event yesterday. The event organization was excellent, the trails were fun, and the participants (including the visiting horses) were friendly.

Well I managed to duplicate the photo postings and can't figure out how to delete half of them without starting over. Maybe an administrator can do some friendly photo editing!

Interesting to see so many JT's and modified Jeeps in general. Last year in Hollister there was only one other Jeep with larger tires, a JT that was also lifted. All the other Jeeps were stock height on stock tires, though several had winches. Looks like a good time!!

There were a couple dozen Jeeps (split across two groups) and I think at least half were JTs. I may have been in the minority without a winch and now, of course, I need to add that to my wish list again. I more fully appreciate the benefits of bigger tires and lifts, as the rear end of my Gladiator and others suffered some minor scrapes.

Warfab Inc has some nice hitch skids. I'm sure there are others out there too :) I bought mine after I bent the safety chain tab pretty badly.

My jeep is lifted and on bigger tires, but I still manage to scrape it on stuff occasionally. Worth the investment IMO :/

Looks like a fun event! Glad y'all had a good time!

interesting. I didn’t know there was such a thing as a hitch skid! Thanks for the idea.

I was there on Saturday and it was an awesome time! I have a lot of video of the first couple of JTs in one group (the red one with a rack-top tent and the lifted Gator/Gobi [I can never remember which is which]) in the group that started on the Jeep hill side of the trail in the morning. I was third in the group, in a mostly stock Stinggray JTR.

Stock size 285/70-17 for Rubicon.
Thanks was curious as I am running Rubicon take off tires and shocks on my JT and was wondering if there were any issues faced. I got no lift. Maybe they will see there was big number of folks wanting in and will have a few more classes.

How do you get notified of these events? I would have loved to have gone (if I knew about it with enough time to get in), and it’s just up the road from San Antonio.

I just stumbled across a thread in this forum early in March that listed the dates and locations. I figured they would fill up pretty quickly, so I picked a date and signed up.
