Trying to lock in my order. The MT will save me $2k. I like MT and have had in the past. With the extra weight does it make more sense with the 8 speed? Will be doing regear as soon as I purchase. May even have it built into the financing.

I wanted a manual but after the first recall I switched to auto with max tow. Now the manual has a 2nd recall, and it appears the actual problem hasn't been addressed.

I vote for auto. Even if you don't tow the fact that the manual is only rated at 4500 vs 6000lb+ with auto should tell you something about how strong it is.

I have the manual Rubicon with 5:13s and light 37" tires and rims. It is quick now in the 1/4 mile and has plenty of power. In my opinion the Rubicon is under geared with the manual, 4:10s and 33s. The Rubicon should have come with 4:56 gears. So, going to 5:13s with a true size 37" tire was the way to go for me. I gives you two more usable lower gears in the 1/4 mile and makes your overdrive gears very useful. It also allows you to use 4WH more with the clutch out while 4 wheeling in moderate terrain. Personally, I believe, if you budget for a re-gear, you should be happy with the manual.
