I got a VON today. Ordered 48 hours ago. At least now I can track progress or lack thereof.

My build does have the Proximity Entry, which is one of the items that allegedly is held up due to microchip shortages. We'll see....

I ordered mine on 4/26 and they wouldn't even let me add proximity entry to it, so I went without. But, my build is completed and awaiting shipment to the dealer, so I guess I'm happy I configured mine the way that I did. I may end up adding it on later, if it's a thing that bothers me after a while.

Noticed a few people were able to place orders yesterday. I may have to reach out to Gupton. Travis at TriCity is about to go out of town for a week and has not replied to my email or call yet. Dont want to miss my chance of getting an order in if Gecko is potentially available. Gupton is a 6hr drive but I could turn it into. Camping weekend in the Smokies.

I ordered yesterday and I don't have a VON. Apparently a lot of you who ordered in April got a VON the same day. This to me isn't a good sign.

If I have to wait a few months or longer it may blow my deal because I have a trade-in. Also, if they end up offering Anvil color for 2022 I'll be ticked off because I'll have a Hydro on order that I cannot change.

I'm starting to get a little nervous about this timing...
You're trading up too? I only lasted 10 months with my JTR before pulling the trigger on the JTR Diesel lol.

Well technically I'm trading down, because I have a fully loaded Bighorn Ram 1500 North Edition with all the goodies and the new EcoDiesel in the 480 lb/ft version. Nicest vehicle I've ever driven in my life, and honestly it's stupid for me to give it up. But Jeeps are just so sinfully tempting... :brokenhearted:

Great! Are you going with the eco diesel for this one? My sources tell me no Anvil this year. More times than not they’ve been right, so don’t sweat it!

I
Same here!!!. I ordered my JTRD 4/26. Will be just shy of 1 year with the JTR when I trade up.
So basically, when people bitch about the continual rising costs of these things and someone chimes in “people keep buying anyways” we are probably part of the problem!

I ordered on 4/20 and had the VON within the hour. VIN was assigned the next day. It’s a loaded to the gills JTRD. The truck started build on 4/24 and it was KZ on 4/29. It finally loaded a train 4 days later and as of now the ramp ETA for offload is sitting at 5/13. I do have two keys coming as well so I dont seem to be affected by that. Take my fast build with a grain of salt, I have an inside push. But the VON/VIN were without any pushed.

Costs did change recently—MSRP. Guy refused to give me FWP. The Google sheet needs updating. I walked away. Not in a hurry. I drive a 2018 JLU Sahara that I got at 6% below invoice from the same dealer a couple years ago.

Too funny that is the exact MSRP of mine that I ordered on 4/20, and it lined up with the build sheet order pricing from here. My dealer gave me the 7% below invoice but doc fee through them is $998 so it’s more like 6%. Freaking FL, all dealers down here do these outrageous doc fees and will not budge.

LOL. I’m not buying from these guys on the sheet because they wouldn't budge from MSRP. I’m shopping around on the % under dealer invoice. Koons in VA is only doing 3% under invoice right now. Maybe a trip to TN is worth it.

Hurry up, or wait until fall/winter. Most of the dealers (koons, criswell, Lakeland and the others) that do the deep invoice deals are stopping or cutting it in half. Jeep corporate is stopping a lot of the hold backs and the volume discounting dealers get is almost non existent so savings are gone. Because supply is severely constrained dealers can’t meet their quotas and each quarter that means they are loosing the sweet deals they get from Jeep.

I was shocked my dealer is letting me do the 7% below invoice on the née Grand Cherokee L. I’m about to jump on that as well.

I assume you mean high discounts? APR cut in half would be a good thing. Have these places told you they are doing this?

Dude this sounds like fearmongering to me. Below-invoice pricing deals are different than haggling over things on the lot. If dealers cut their discounts for forum members it's because they want more money from us, not because they've missed quotas or lost out on sweet deals.

Yes sorry, I meant deep below invoice deals in the 6-8% range. They are being wiped.

Fearmongering?? Why in the hell would I do that? I have no idea what you’re talking about but I don’t think you understand how the discounting works with the dealers that do the sweet discounts. The more they sell the more discount they get. Simple math, sell more so you can get better volume discounts from Jeep, thereby getting better price to sell even more. If there are way less jeeps being produced that means way less supply and less vehicles to sell, so less volume discount when you don’t met the quotas… do the math. Not to mention the costs have metals, plastics, electronics have all doubled and tripled. Do you think Jeep is going to eat that cost, or instead pass it on to dealers to then pass on to us?

Have you been to a dealer lot lately? There are no chips for vehicles and they can’t keep them in stock. Look at Ford and the F-150. THOUSANDS of trucks sitting built in lots without chips. Ford said themselves the other day that is their bread and butter and they can’t divert enough chips to get them completed. What’s on the lots is going for close to sticker or at sticker in many areas because supply is down. Over the next quarter you will see more of the below invoice deals go away. Some of the 6% below dealers have already cut to 3% below. There aren’t enough sales to sustain the dealers high volume discounts which means they won’t have steep prices to capitalize on. I’m not making this up or assuming, this is coming from the guys in planning and production over the wrangler and gladiator. Jeep has already begun notifying dealers of this. There are jeep dealers with stock available. And those that have it generally aren’t negotiating much. They know other dealers are hurting and the supply constraints are said to be worse as we push into summer. This with cars aren’t budging much on prices knowing they’ll be the only ones with cars.

But you're talking about an increase in MSRP (and presumably invoice). The percentage discount off of that shouldn't be affected.

You're right, I don't know the business model of how cheap a dealer can actually get a Gladiator, but I was never under the impression that all of the forum dealers were mega-lots that can only offer a discount because they move so much volume. I mean Sprit Lake only has 100 cars on the lot right now, most of them used. Again, my understanding is that it's more of a "I can get it for X if you want it for X+Y%, neither of us is wasting anyone's time, and because it's a custom-order it doesn't affect my allotment that I would otherwise get from Jeep"

There aren’t enough sales to sustain the dealers high volume discounts which means they won’t have steep prices to capitalize on. You're still talking about cars on the lot. I can wait months for a custom order and not affect how many Jeeps that dealer is allotted or their ability to wheel and deal on the lot.

So - maybe they will decrease the discounts just to make more $$ because they know they can. But I don't think jeep is forcing their hand.

Documentation fees suck. The state sets the maximum and all dealers get into some kind of agreement they will all hold the line on it and not ever budge.
