I’m looking for a better dealer I think. Took almost three months to get parts but I just picked up my Gladiator after having the steering box and 8.4 stereo replaced. I also had asked them to change the oil. Last time they changed the oil the oil life wasn’t reset (no biggie, I reset it) I noticed this time it wasn’t reset and the sticker in the windshield was the old one. I called the service writer and asked if he knows the oil was changed. He said yes and would print me a sticker. I don’t care about a sticker, I’m gonna change it this weekend for piece of mind.
Now the really annoying part. I notice my clock isn’t updated and I called XM to change the radio ID on my account. Go to channel 1 and it says No Service, Contact Dealer. I walked back in and told the guy hopefully they didn’t plug the antenna back in or something but the XM doesn’t work. I also had to keep re-pairing my phone the last 2 days. He made a comment about how unhappy he was with the mechanics (which prompted me to buy a filter And some oil). He said the guy that worked on it wasn’t in yet. He could put me in a car because he didn’t know when it would be looked at and if he has to order another radio, it would be a while. I told him I would go home, pop out the radio and see if it was plugged in. It is, so I called back and he said he would order a radio. What sucks is I have XM and the guardian service that I payed for. I called XM and they can’t suspend my service because of travel link or some shit. Also the steering feels no different. I have 2 questions,
1. Anyone know of a good dealer in virginia for service
2. If I call Jeep, can they expedite the radio replacement.
The replacement I have still had another phone paired with it, so I don’t have much faith in another radio I think. This shit is so frustrating. I love the truck but this and I had a visor that the buttons wouldn’t work, they said they tested fine and long story short, I ordered a visor from all mopar parts and my garage door buttons works now. I told the dealer and he chuckled and said he was glad I got it worked out. I’m mostly venting but just in case there is a good service dept out there, I think I would rather deal with them.
Thanks for reading

Yes, true that... XM can’t suspend service because of travel link.. this has been posted mentioned on the JL forum many times over the last 3 years..

Regarding the pairing issue you are having..

The process only takes a few minutes to do. Exc. chance it will remedy your issue with pairing.

1) Unpair your Android smartphone(s).

2) In UConnect, Smartphone Projection Manager, (see pic below) delete any and all Android devices listed there. (You may see more then one, even if you have only paired your Android cellphone)

3) Now, pair your Android Smartphone with your JT.

I did that and that is when I noticed there had been another iPhone paired to it. Seems to me even though I’m sure it’s a refurbished unit, they would have cleared the previously paired phones. Either Jeep isn’t doing a good job with this or the dealer just threw a problematic unit in there. Either way, it sucks because the previous unit just went white a few times. Everything worked good since I switched to an iPhone. Android auto was a problem with the last unit. CarPlay worked fine. Anyway, my bigger problem is the XM not working and I’m gonna have to cancel service and sign back up. What if I don’t get the price I just renewed at. Shit like that. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

The large radios may be tough to get at times. We waited a few weeks to get one for my wife's WK2 - they told me then there was a shortage (electronic parts - there's problems all over the world) It didn't take as long as they warned it might, but still.

My dealer's shop actually replaced my steering gear a second time after I told them to please check alignment per latest TSB, and that my steering had gotten worse in recent months. They called me and told me they were ordering one.
I've had GREAT luck. They do the work they say they will.

They can transfer service to a different radio without any issue. Happens all the time when people trade vehicles, replace radios and so on. Technically I could even transfer my service to my wife's Jeep - (but they want her back real bad so sent a letter with a decent deal I'll do for her........)

I transferred service this morning and that’s when I saw the radio was bad. The bitch of it is I have a broken radio and if it takes three months again, I paid for three months of nothing. Guardian as well. I have nothing to transfer this service to right now. ANd what I have a poorly refurbished unit so maybe it’s missing some parts that are scarce.

Ouch, sounds like the wait time has gotten a lot worse.

Not to hijack your thread, but can you say which dealer you are having issues with? I just got my JT HA in Bethesda Maryland, but I live in North VA and will be taking my JT to one of the dealers around here for service in the future. Really dont want to end up in a nut house!

It’s way south of Fredericksburg, which is where I live. You shouldn’t have to worry. The sales dept was great and I want to talk to the general manager before I say who it is. I’m hoping he or she isn’t aware of these issues. It could be one shitty tech or something. I don’t want to burn a bridge. If you find a good one in northern VA, let me know. I hate going to NVA but will if I have to.

Regarding the radio - yes, they have been having issues with them. After getting my batteries replaced (the auxiliary battery died) the radio popped up 'Device Not Supported' on the screen - did not have a USB cable plugged in. And the nav had me miles from where I was. Took it in, they determined the ID numbers had disappeared. They ordered a replacement. The replacement had internal antenna issues so they had to order another radio. This one is working fine.

And I agree - you need to find another service department, is sounds like this one has incompetent mechanics.

Yeah, a clip was missing on the AC controls bezel and the place it goes bent to shit. I used a heat gun and reshaped the plastic.. I had some clips and it all looks good now. He will not touch when the radio comes in. When I got the Jeep I looked around and decided the clips that would break if taken apart. Bought ten of each.

No reason for it to be bent except carelessness. I have taken my radio assembly out on both my Wrangler and Gladiator to install a 12v power splitter so I could power a USB port on top of the dash. Neither one are bent or broken.

Talked to the service director. He assured me this wasn't normal and he was sorry. I was on my motorcycle and he said he needed the software number to order another radio. I went home and screenshot the radio. He contacted me that night and said on will be ordered in the morning and he would let me know how long that very day. That was 3 days ago. I love this truck and it shit like this is why I will not buy another new vehicle. They all suck. I'm getting used shit from now on I think.

They replaced it today with a new unit and everything works as expected. The steering gear box was replaced and it feels the same but it was horrible before, so it's a jeep. The oil supplies were checked out on the computer so it looks like it was changed. I am happy now. Everything is working. The crank on the seat is stupid (just throwing it out there)

Mine steers like any truck would now - maybe could use some more caster, but it's tight, no play, no wander. Would be interesting to see what the alignment sheet for yours says since that's supposed to be done with the TSB for steering - maybe you don't have enough caster - you have a lift - so I assume you changed lower control arms.
That "it's a Jeep" just doesn't cut it. Even the service writer at the dealer shop I use agrees - it's not a Jeep thing.
Mine is only up slightly is why I mention caster could be changed on mine because I have the stock lower arms and my small bit of lift likely put it on the edge of what caster should be.

I doubt they aligned it but I will ask. I didn’t get a sheet. I just have a leveling kit. Thanks.
