I'll chime in on the Suntop. I have the hardtop w/the Bestop Sunrider.., great for Spring and Fall, agree maybe not the best looking but a fast way to get some sun for the front people. I'm not keen on the look of the "factory" soft but I agree with all the comments on the ease of use of the soft top and likely why it doest go all the way down.
I emailed Suntop a few weeks ago and as of 4/29 they said they were approx 40-60 days out (a good bit of the summer).., Covid delay. Price said to be $950-$990 US. They sent some pics and it looks interesting, only thing is the top rolls up toward the front and looks like it stays there, not sure if it removes easily. Looks odd rolled up to the front but could grow on me. Id assume it won't be very quiet when in place either but here in SE PA we get maaaaaaaybe 3 months good weather so I can deal with it. Also..., two colors..., Black Diamond and Sand.
Just my $0.02

Sounds like it'll be frameless...could you post the pictures if you still have them?

Those are images they sent. Not a lot to go on. I’m pretty sure there is something on YouTube (EVERYTHING is on YouTube) that shows it rolled up. May be on a Wrangler but will give you an idea

This actually looks kinda good- Better than I expected, If its easy to remove the front rail with the rolled up top. i could see a lot of these selling. It looks like the material is only 2 pieces, the top and the back being separate pieces. Very creative.

Maybe they'll be able to make it as simple to remove as the factory soft top? 4 bolts and off?
(Notice a theme here yet folks?)

Honestly sounds like you would do better with a tonneau cover as a roof....

I hope I am wrong, but the Suntops looks like they would be flappy and noisy.
I had considered one to use as an "emergency" top or limited use top for my Wrangler when the hardtop is off.
No way would I replace my Gladiator soft top with that for every day use.

Lol you might be onto something here. Somebody needs to figure out how to fit one of those cheep covers on the roof.

I used to have the Bestop TerektopNX on my JKU, was loud but I loved it. If it's too loud there are lots of stereo upgrade threads..... I mean its a moot point for me, I love my OEM Twill soft top- it's very quiet for a convertible. I use it on the freeway and while on the phone every day, I think it's actually quieter than my uninsulated hardtop.

I have no complaints with it closed...very quiet! It's when open and there's 6ft of fabric piled above the cab that it gets ridiculous. Some have suggested straps, so may give that a try.

I think I get what you all are saying about the soft top, but just in case, tell me how you really feel now.

People keep saying Bestop makes the OEM so they won’t make a replacement. Unless that’s part of the purchase agreement from FCA I don’t follow. Selling another top to the people who didn’t buy your first one doesn’t seem like a bad idea to me. ?
