Taking a look at a few 3-3.5 inch kits, including the two shown below, and was wondering what the advantages of the coils would be on a basic kit like this? If I liked the stock sport ride, wouldn't it be advantage to use the spacers to keep the stock springs installed?

Additionally, would it be recommended to add LCA relocation brackets to a kit like this? TIA for any input you have.

I've had the RC $650 3.5" coil kit for a year now and it's been great. I'm running 38" patagonias and 5:13 gears are next.

That is an awesome looking rig. Did you find the need to add either adjustable lower control arms, or the geo relocation brackets?

Thanks. I have the core 4x4 tier 4 lower fronts on but they haven't been adjusted yet until I get an alignment.

I've been looking at the 3.5" Rough Country coil lift kit as well. The only reason I haven't really pulled the trigger is I'm not sure how much more lift it would give me. @Gladiator847 could you measure from the the center of you wheel to the bottom of the fender and tell me where your sitting front and rear.

I have Rubicon Takeoff springs in the front and I paired them with a 2.5" SST Readylift spacer lift kit which gives 2.5 in the front and 2 in the rear. I'm curious where you land with the 3.5" coils from rough country. I did add lower control arm geo brackets to mine and it took most of the side to side sway out of mine. I would imagine at 3.5" you will definitely want them if you want a good riding jeep.

Mine looks like this currently on 37's

Been debating this same thing. Anyone know what the rear springs are rated to tow? I already know I'm losing towing capacity going w/ bigger tires (via power loss) and wondering if swapping springs would lower it even further (via spring rate). Spacers still allow me to retain the rear Max Tow springs but at a price difference of only $150 I think I may just swap the springs to the 3.5"

Just a suggestion but if it was me and I'm strongly considering swapping to the rough country 3.5 lift, I'd pass on the shocks and just get the kit without the shocks. Didn't realize until I looked back at it that they have a option to not purchase the shocks. That's the only complaint I have from Rough Country kits are their shocks are no good.

Right. I really wish they sold the 3.5" spacer kit without the shocks.

I'm leaning towards spacer version to retain stock springs. Would you guys add the geo correction brackets to this kit?

I would. Anything over 2" of lift really needs the Geo brackets. They will make a noticable difference in how it rides.

I've heard people say the brackets can make a huge improvement in the ride quality so I will try them. Just need to decide if I'm going springs vs spacers now...

I went with the Poison Frog Ones, they adjust to 3 different lift levels was the main selling factor and they are a little cheaper. Made as good as rough country or AEV when we compared them. I had AEV ones my old JKU.

I completely forgot I posted on this thread as well. Pasted my initial thoughts to this one to try and keep a coherent thread going. Mods, please feel free to delete anything you see fit.

This post is not a sales pitch or "my lift is better than your lift" or anything of that nature, I just thought I'd post this here in case it could help anyone w a visual representation if they were debating Rubi take-offs and a spacer vs a coil lift that was, on paper, only supposed to be an inch taller.

I had a 2020 Sport and had purchased some Rubicon take-offs along with a 1-1/2" front spacer in the front and a 3/4" spacer in the rear. I probably had about $450-500 into it all total. Overall, I'd say I got about 2 1/2" lift up front and 3/4" in the back. It drove like stock and worked great. It took the rake out and sat nicely but was never happy with how stuffed the tires looked (37" BFG's on 17" wheels). Fast forward a year. Sold the Sting Grey one to Carvana and bought another Sport S. Read through all the posts about which lift was better for A, B or C reasons, which costs the most, etc, etc, etc. I ended up purchasing the RC 3.5" coil lift and Rancho XL9000's (the poor man's adjustable shocks). I actually wanted the RC 3.5" spacer lift but was not happy with the fact that you couldn't get that kit without buying their shocks. I have about $900 into the new lift.

I've just had it on a day so I can't give you the in's and outs of how it drives in all conditions. Overall, it feels pretty normal. Drives just fine up and down the highway, on some rutted, curvy country roads and on normal roads. The biggest difference I feel is not so much the suspension, but rather the change from the stock 245's that came on it to the 37" BFG's. They are, obviously, bouncy-er than the stock tires. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how everything worked out. I like the stance much better now. Better wheel gap and the lift looks proportional to the tires finally.

I have a set of Rancho control arm drop brackets as well. Going to drive it for awhile then install them to see what, if any, difference they make.

I pulled the trigger on the 3.5" lift (coil version). I've selected some 37" tires but picking a wheel is harder than I thought lol. I ordered LCA (geo correction) brackets as well. I have everything I need for install, except I will need a bigger torque wrench :)
