Yesterday we decided to take a quick detour into State Trust land and do a couple desert donuts. I found that even with the traction control turned off, it still kills power right at the apex of a donut

I'm sure this is by design, I've found the same thing in a rental Mustang, but is it possible to turn off completely with a Taser or something? I'm not sure I want to, but I just want to know it's possible. I could envision off-road use cases when you want more wheel speed to not get hampered by an over-protective traction control system

Yes. Hit the button. I have just hit the button and could drift in the snow like I belong in Fast and the Facetious.

I have noticed the same thing. I think its actually stability control, not traction. And its incredibly frustrating when in desert sand.

I have a Mojave, and I expect to be able to rip through sand as fast as I want. The control gradually slows you more and more to where you're basically at a crawl and need 4WD to keep going in the sand.

Yes. Hit the button.
No, this doesn't help. Can confirm the OP's issue.

There still is stability control that is on.

UGH. Nanny state again. I'll check mine out again and see if I notice the stability control.

I'll give this a try in 2WD and 4WD High. Really hope I don't need a Tazr just for this alone.

Press and hold, and stability control will eventually turn off.

But now that I think of it, I've only done this in 4WD. Not sure if I've tried it in 2WD.
And even in 4L, I think 5-10% of the Traction Control and Stability Control is still functioning. I recall reading the manual that there is no way to completely turn off these features.

My SRT Charger I had to push the button for about 10 seconds to totally disable it. Try holding it in longer. The SRT would chime when fully off.

So I just went out to my Jeep to give this a try. I will also state that I have a Tazer and I have not tried this without the Tazer unhooked. But I can press the Traction Control button and it will turn off the TCS but if I hold the button for 5-10 seconds it will completely shut off the traction control. Please forgive the background noise! It started to storm as I was videoing. This video was done in 2wd as well.

Damn. That's one heck of a storm. Glad it worked.

I just held traction control button for ~6sec in 2H and 4H and got the same thing twice: traction control off with traction control light on, ESC light on, ABS light on, parking brake light on, "service ABS" warning, "service stability control" warning. Lights wouldn’t turn off unless I turned the truck off and wasn't able to turn traction control back on unless I turned the truck off also..
