So my wife hates the plastic fenders on my Jeep she said they look like trash can lids and she's pushing me to replace them with some steel fenders. I'm on the fence on if I want to replace them with steel fenders or maybe try to bedline them to make them look less like trash can lids. She's all about the steel fenders thought. What are you guys running for steel fenders. If I go that route I want to find something that's got some width to it. Maybe not as wide as the stock ones but I don't want anything that's a fender delete or like the real skinny ones. I'm open for any suggestions, I got a rear fender that needs to be replaced and I'm looking around. As it sits now in the picture. If I put steel fenders on I'll probably remove the wheel spacers.

Maybe take them off and paint them?

There are companies that make factory paint matched rattle can paint.
Short of buying another Jeep with painted fenders, I think that is a good way to go.

Yeah i definitely don't want painted fenders, I'd bedline them or something similar, don't want the factory paint look, just never liked it and they get so dang banged up on trails. Not knocking no one's fender choice, just not for me.

JCR or Metalcloak imo. JCR a more classic look, Metalcloak is a tube for even more rigidity. If I am in the thick and bending something, while the tube makes sense for strength, these things are bolted to thin sheet metal... and I don't want all that force into the sheet metal. Sucks to bend a fender, but it's far less expensive.

Well the issue you're going to have even with $1,500 is that will get you 4 flares, but no liners. Running liner less is not good idea. Factory liners attach to the fender you just removed. Maybe you could figure a way to jank them on.

Yeah i reused my factory liners on my JKU. I've been looking at the Dv8 ones and Iron cross ones. I'm not rock crawling so I don't need nothing real stout. Nixon off road had a interesting set as well but it says they only fit a Rubicon or overland model, not sure what the difference is because you can install Rubicon Fenders on a sport so not sure why their fenders would not fit a Sport or Sport s. Here are the ones I'm referring to

The issue with liners as you know is about rocks and debris getting up inside places it's not supposed to be.

In the front you have all the engine components and wiring, rear driver you have all the gas lines.

Just make sure you have something even if it's a factory one that's cut and screwtapped in somewhere

Yeah that's how I did my jku ones I cut them drilled some holes and tapped them in but I may just find some steel inner fenders this time. Just weighing my options right now.

Side note though, wife seems to be a keeper if she notices stuff like this and likes the rugged after market fenders. Just sayin...
Definitely a keeper. First thing she said when I signed the deal on it was tomorrow you have to put bigger tires on it and get a lift put on it. 3 days later it was lifted with 35's.
