I keep a note on my phone where I list everything I plan to do for my build. I try to keep things on the list for at least a month or two before buying it just to make sure I have done all of my research. Occasionally I will find something else that fits or looks better, and then start the process all over again. Just keeps me from buying it all at once.

I also keep a spreadsheet where I track every penny spent on the Gladiator. It's not something I show the wife but it includes gas, maintenance, insurance, aftermarket parts....

My bank statement just came in the mail today, so good timing on this thread. Most of the $3000 I spent on my current statement was for the Jeep and not one thing more expensive the the Hotheads headliner that I haven't installed yet. So many little things like skid plates that just add up. Before the month is out, I'm looking at rock lighting, tinting front windows to match, and Rubicon steel bumper takeoffs if I can find them. I've put my shooting hobby on hold completely and while that isn't a cheap hobby; it isn't nearly enough to offset how much I've been spending. But at some point I have got to call this thing done. I need to just never again click the "What did you do to your JT today" thread.

My skid plates been on back order for 2 months. Waiting patiently for them to come in

Started a Note pad on my phone with parts I like with prices, Ideas for the future, etc. On another list I track my overtime to give me a budget so I’m not cutting into savings or bills… I guess that plan hasn’t quite worked out yet, but it’s the idea that counts, right? ?

I recall reading years ago an article that said officially that the Jeep was the most customizable vehicle on the road. This was based on a count of aftermarket parts available for each vehicle they researched. It even beat out Honda Civics and other tuner cars. This was also an article written back in the early days of the JK, so I imagine with Amazon being what is today, that number has most likely exploded.

There are a lot of really quality aftermarket parts out there for all kinds of purposes and driver's wants or needs, and then there are also a lot of just garbage out there. I scroll through some of these online shops or a "Jeep Gladiator" search on Amazon, and I see things I'm like "yeah, I want that", but mostly "WTF, who made this and who buys this?".

Harley-Davidson is a vehicle too. Nothing comes close to them... come the aftermarket. Jeep is probably a distant second. I will be happy when the JTs have a larger variety of aftermarket, I know it's still a young model.

you are right about the jeep and the Harley Davidson and i have both. the bike is a 2009 ultra classic and i have 180,500 miles on it and the only two things left is the custom paint and the gauges. these will be done over the winter. the jeep i bought in Nov 2019 and i am having fun modifying it as we speak.

A lot of it has to do with being/browsing this forum daily. So many things I never knew I needed. It's my first Jeep, so I might have been overly excited. But a little over 4 months in and I'm broke every month. I didn't plan to do too much but the got the lift, wheels, compressor and fridge installed pretty quickly. Installed the rack last week (not the accesories yet). Still have a winch waiting to be mounted. Seems like I have more stuff than time at the moment. As soon as I get one thing installed, something else arrives. To be clear, I'm not complaining.

For my LJ I bought a contractor clipboard to store all the paperwork for what I bought for it. Now my JT I should have followed the same thing.? My XJ mods cost double what I paid for it and then some.? But I did buy it cheap and in very good condition.
Luckily I don't change vehicle's like some people change socks.? I buy a vehicle not for a warranty but because I don't need it. I'm going to drive the heck out of it.
