Chip shortage is finally affecting Gladiator production

I know waiting sucks, but these wait times don't sound that bad. I waited over a year for my C8 Corvette and it'll probably be 3 years before my deposit for a Z06 gets turned into a car.

I just bought the JTR off the lot. Instant gratification.

I asked Jeep chat and they said it’s only 1 week shutdown which makes it all more confusing because 1 week shouldn’t mean months in waiting time.

Even more confusing: beyond the supposed 1 week shutdown waiting on chips, I believe this same plant will soon be closing for 2 weeks in August for workers vacations, then there’s another longer shut down to retool for 22 models. I wonder if this means 22’s are delayed, too?

They just had a 1 week shutdown about 2 weeks ago for the “vacations” as far as I know.

I thought the initial 6-8 weeks was going to be shitty but then hearing about 4 week turnarounds here gave me hope.... now with emails saying late oct and nov, I’m struggling lol.

Let me guess your jeep has something around the lines of these options
Proximity key locks
Bsm ( Blindspot monitoring system)
Auto cruise control
Cause if it has something like that those things use chips,that's why my JTRD that I ordered is already less than 2 weeks from being delivered here to my local dealer :D

Although the FCA should communicate with the dealers regarding an upcoming shutdown, they probably don’t to avoid mass chaos among dealers.

Not a shot at Daniel who is a great guy, but the lesson of countless threads here is that dealers know FAR less than informed consumers online. FAR FAR less. Most staff at dealerships aren’t even car guys much less Jeep guys. Even if they’re not outright lying to make a sale or get a customer off the phone, they have minimal access to inside information and almost zero ability to assess the information they do hear to evaluate how likely it is to be true. Think of how many ‘dealership contacts’ have offered MY22 start dates which constantly contradict one another, or claims about pricing or feature availability being impossible when it wasn’t. Back when the clutch recall was announced one poor guy on this forum trusted his dealer’s claim that the entire clutch would be replaced for all impacted vehicles. Heck, the Gecko color, unbelievably, was seemingly flipped to orderable because a good soul here on the forum finally got a contact at the Toledo plant and CALLED AND ASKED

Dealers mostly know nothing. Stellantis has no motive or desire to tell them anything, and they operate in an old school industry with old school technology and processes. I sincerely hope those up thread who have been told by dealers ‘we show the Jeep as not delayed’ get their trucks on time, but I’d wager the dealers are doing nothing more than looking at schedule pulls from days ago and quoting the same numbers, and will do so right up until a memo lands on top of their desk confirming the delay.

The shut down 2 weeks ago was actually their annual one they do every July for maintenance. They are closing down for 1 week next week due to the chip shortage according to Jeep chat when I asked them last night.

Dude tell me about it... I just got my wheels in today. My tires should be delivered next month sometime and was hoping that I would mount them sometime next month... I guess they'll be furniture pieces until the Jeep arrives.

I have every option but the adaptive cruise control and it hasen't affected mine to my knowledge. How do you know when your jeep will be delivered? I got an estimated ship date but there was an x as for when it will leave and how long it will take after I leave?

You are not obligated to buy an ordered vehicle. You could always just order another one.

Based on? Just curious — not saying you’re wrong. It was a concern of mine though.
