Does anyone make a headliner or whatever they are called for the Sunrider? I was thinking I would cut up a big windshield sun block to line the inside of the Sunrider to help with noise and heat, but thought I would ask here first and see if someone makes a product for it? Like Hotheads or whatever?

I guess no one makes one or maybe it’s a dumb idea I don’t know it seems like a good idea to me

I’ve had my Sunrider on for going on 2 years. Atlanta area, lots of hot weather and sun. Occasional freezing in Jan-Feb. the Sunrider stays on all the time. It’s no noisier than the freedom tops and the fabric (I have the upgraded twill) insulates very well in heat or cold. I think you are looking for a solution to a problem that isn’t there.

It's not a dumb idea. There are manufacturers with more substantial convertible tops. We have the (whatever they call the higher level version of the) convertible top on my wife's JK. On a hot day in the blasting high altitude sun, I can feel the heat radiating onto my head from the roof. I get it.

That said, the convertible top take rate is very very low on an already fairly niche vehicle. (Real) Jeeps are not luxury cars, and the demographic that went for the convertible tops is even less luxury oriented than the already finite whole. Product development costs would be significant relative to the take rate, would thereby drive the price up substantially, and diminish the take rate further.

You might be able to rig up something home brew as far as a dedicated liner would be concerned, but that's probably your best bet. It would need to be thin if you wanted to avoid negating the whole purpose of the convertible top. You'd probably want an air gap between the inner and outer, and that's probably the most insulation you're going to be able to achieve without redoing the entire top from the frame up.

If your sewing, fabrication skills, and/or budget aren't substantial, I'd invest in a hat.

I am here in Arizona and work out of my car. I have upgraded version also. I have an Eco diesel. They are without a doubt noisier and hotter than the freedom panels. Of course our average temperature here in AZ in August is probably 115.

Will this new headliner still fit properly if you have the Bestop sunscreen installed with your Sunrider?

Thanks,

Todd

I would think so - I have the sunscreen and there is plenty of room above the brackets.
