Ordered a Diesel Overland a few weeks ago and trying to decide on best tire upgrade for me by the time it gets here. Will be my daily driver and will seldom take it off road. Live in Southern, IN so will see snow a couple of times a year. Will do some light towing from time to time. Mainly want a more aggressive 34-35 inch tire with good drivability to make my Gladiator look better (I know- throw me into the mall crawler status).

These two options are within a couple of bucks of each other at Discount Tire. The Falkens will fit on stock Overland no problem at 34.3x11.6, but the Discount Tire website says the Duratracs won't fit stock at 35.1x11.2. I will likely be doing a leveling kit either way, but don't plan to spend money on a lift kit anytime soon.

Anybody want to chime in with opinions and/or pictures of either of these on a stock or leveled only JT sport or Overland? I am leaning toward the Duratrac for the biggest tire for my buck, but have read complaints about road noise. Thanks!

I ran Duratracs on my old lifted Ram. Wasn't a fan. Don't have experience with the Falkens. I can tell you I really liked the Nitto Trail Grapplers....but they do have some road noise.

Can you get Duratracs?

The size I wanted was on national backorder about a month ago.

Not QUITE the same, but I just put 285/75r18 duratracs on my wife's JLU (sahara w/ the factory 18s) and she's been happy with them (has like 2k miles on them right now). She has the 3.73 gearing so I wanted to keep the tire width down so that she wouldn't see such a huge mpg hit. But all I added was the 2" daystar lift kit. They are super aggressive looking, and larger than my BFG 315s (need to upgrade to 37s soon to restore order in the driveway). I had the same issue with Discount Tire. They told me they only had 1 tire in the country at the time, but Mavis was able to get them the next day.

I ran Duratracs on my old F150. I didn’t find them to be too noisy. I’m running the factory wildpeaks on my new rubicon and I think they sound about the same.

I did have issues in wet weather with the Duratracs after a few thousand miles. The back end would slide around on recently wet roads. Of course, YMMV…

I don't have any experience with Duratacs, but I have the factory Falkens on my JTR. They seem to be good so far but a think the General Grabber ATXs that I had on my JKU were a better tire in the snow.

I am really happy with my Falken Wildpeak AT3w in the 294/70r18. Quiet on the road, great performance on road, in the snow, and off-road.

Rubicon Take off suspension(+3/4” front and rear), teraflex 1.5” leveling kit, daystar 3-4” rear spacer.

Your current build (Rubicon Suspension, 1.5" terra, and 3/4" Daystar) is the exact build I'm looking for with the new tires to get to the right height and ride. The Falkens look great in this setup.
Thanks for posting the pictures. Is the ride difference between the Rubicon and stock vastly different (were you sport or overland before)? Also, do you know if Rubicon suspension is different between gasser and Diesel? I will have the overland diesel and want to make sure I'm not putting on an inferior suspension system if it comes off of a gas Rubicon.

Ride wise it’s a bit stiffer but soaks up rough roads much better. It’s a noticeable improvement, I found the stock overland suspension floaty and bouncy, particularly the rear.

Gas and diesel spring are different, the diesel motor is considerably heavier so if you put in gas springs in you won’t see the same lift and may still have the bouncy floaty feeling. Shocks are all the same to my knowledge.

I am super happy with this set up, but I will probably go to a proper 2.5” lift once I wear these out. Bang for the buck this is a Goldilocks set up. $1000 in tires, $200 in shocks and springs, $150 in spacers and your taller and with bigger tires than a stock rubicon. $100 is rubicon rock rails is a worthwhile add on too if you wheel.
