I keep my carpets in my attic, solved that problem ? and my 2020 is Gator free of charge. Didn't have to pay one cent extra for it. But, I do agree every color just be free of charge. Seems ridiculous that you pay so much for a vehicle and then charge you to paint it. WTF!!
I missed getting gator by a week. But I DID get to pay $245 for not just any gray, I got darker than standard gray but lighter than black. Yeah, I hate you. ?

At least I can take solace in the fact that the "Arizona pinstriping" that is in store for the future of this paint job won't make me cry too much. Yeah, doesn't work, I still hate you. ?

I just hope Jeep NEVER brings back gator, 'cause THEN I'm gonna really be pissed. ;)

The radio in my Tundra would cut off every time I hit a bump and eat CD’s. The one in my Tacoma was an absolute POS. Could barely hear it over the hum of my Cooper STT Pro Mud Terrains. If you switched the fade to the rear, it would basically fade to nothing. underpowered POS. The stereo in my Glad is like being in a concert hall. I couldn’t be more pleased.
We had a 2014 highlander with what was labeled as e largest screen at the time. That stereo sucked. It would crash all the time and make everything freeze then reboot at least 2-4 times an hour and some days it was perfectly normal.

Also referred to in steering
Check the tech definitions.
Drive by wire refers to all of the systems replaced by electronics.
The "gas pedal" is a narrow definition.
Drive by wire refers to anything that's been replaced by electronics.

No, the power steering is not electric- only the pump is. You can STILL turn the steering wheel. I can, I can make the wheels turn on mine by going out, without the key fob with me, reaching in and grabbing the wheel. In fact, that's what I did when swapping springs and shocks on the front - turned the steering wheel without starting the engine (I'm a mechanic and have helped a number of people with steering issues on these)

Drive by wire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Drive by wire, DbW, by-wire, Steer-by-wire, Fly-by-wire or x-by-wire technology in the automotive industry is the use of electrical or electro-mechanical systems for performing vehicle functions traditionally achieved by mechanical linkages. This technology replaces the traditional mechanical control systems with electronic control systems using electromechanical actuators and human-machine interfaces such as pedal and steering feel emulators. Components such as the steering column, intermediate shafts, pumps, hoses, belts, coolers and vacuum servos and master cylinders are eliminated from the vehicle. This is similar to the fly-by-wire systems used widely in the aviation industry.
Yup drive by wire is exactly what the throttle is. It’s pulled by an electronic sensor not a mechanical cable, right?
anyways doesn’t really matter. I did just try to turn my steering wheel with the vehicle of. It’s tough just like any Pump driven steering but you can turn it abs I did know it’s an electric steering pump and not “electric” steering.
the sensor for the throttle is incredibly laggy and when you let off the peddle you are still accelerating. Just takes some getting used too.
This is all very useful knowledge. ????

Yes, but drive by wire covers more than the throttle - it's brakes, steering, etc. but these are not electronic steering. The steering is very old-school save for the electrically controlled pump.
The pump is just assist - it's not pump driven steering. Without the assist it's normal recirculating ball steering sector (or steering gear) - when you turn the wheel it operates valves that allow the pressure from the pump to assist your turning effort. So it's harder to steering without the pump assisting.

When I let off my throttle I can feel it decelerate. It doesn't keep accelerating.
IF I let off the gas and touch the brake just right then let up on the brake, it will drop a gear and slow me down. It knows my intent is to slow when I do that.

Only annoying thing is, why couldn't we get "auto up" windows. I'll take that lil annoyance, for all the awesomeness that i have had with my JT. 2yrs in, and still dreaming up new mods. LOVE IT! J.E.E.P
There's a mod. for that. It works pretty well, too.

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/finally-automatic-up-down-all-windows.40708/

...and having the ESS stop the engine when I pull into the driveway and then when I put it in park, it restarts only for me to immediately shut it off again. Why not just stay off after shifting into park?
Ya' just gotta be quick!
Put it into park just as you're stopping.

Mine has some of those fancy pin stripes, my wife was more pissed than I was. I told her, that shit will buff out. Not so much! ?. At the end of the day, I bought it to wheel and it sounds like you did as well. Wheel it baby!

Auto up would be nice to have. I still try even though it’s not there.

This is the case with any vehicle. What do you all think is good bad and tolerable but could be better?

I'd like to start with the wiper switch. WTF? you push it up to quick wipe. Pull it back to spray. Most wiper handles you would push down to turn on, nope you have to twist the :surprised: tip. Just a small annoyance LOL.

What are the little things you all love or love to hate?
I've never in my life seen a wiper control that you push down to turn on. Maybe that's on foreign brands?

The things I HATE:

AutoPark
No power seats
Little to no headroom
They shaved 2" of hip room out from the prior generation
They used steel on body panels prone to rust, and aluminum elsewhere. WTF?
The exterior mirrors. They are HORRENDOUS. #1 problem

I have my left mirror all the way out.......... and I'm only 5'8" and run with the seat only 2/3 back. What do tall people do?
I'm sure it's for clearance and so on - but if you need clearance, fold them in.

I don't need to look at the side of my own vehicle - I'll lean if I want to see the side of my truck or I'll move the mirror in if I'm backing into a really tight area but to be maxed outward while driving is......

I understand why no power seats - sort of - but the Overland could at least have that as an option. But then they make them all to get wet - and to be able to wash out, and the floor and mats have drains. If you've seen power seats that have been wet or through a flood, you'd know...........
but all you'd do is ruin the working parts, corrode or rust the working parts beyond help (12 volts won't shock you so no danger there).

I hate the window switch placement. I'm somewhat familiar with it from my old JK, but when you drive 5 different vehicles and only 1 is in the center stack, it gets confusing.
This is one that gets me. “I’m so confused “?

I love mine too. Even the horrible gas mileage. And this is the not-picking post. Hahaha i think mine came with a year for guardian but I don’t really know. When it stops working I guess. I wouldn’t pay for that.
if I could or get away with sleeping init I probably would. I still get up at night to see if it’s really a roll there.
my dram was to build a TJ with a bruit conversion and I just held out and the Gladiator happens.Really a dream come true and will most likely be the last vehicle I ever buy myself n
Out of all the vehicles I’ve owned I’ve never gotten so excited to go drive! My Mojave is just dreamy and the very few annoyances are easily forgotten.

That wiper switch gets me every time. Especially during the summer when the JT just gets a cover over it when raining. I go months in between uses. I then remember I have to turn them on like the rear wiper in every other car.

bad--the sun visors break easily
I really wish the garage remote thing wasn't built in there. I would love to remove mine. All they do is get in the way of the clips for the top, and therefore get moved constantly, increasing the likelyhood of breaking 1000%. I also can't ever imagine using them, I wouldn't be able to see a single traffic light
