?? First loaner 2018 Compass had brake issues (vibrating), second loaner 21 Durango check engine light came on with engine bay vibration. The leaky axle has been a ton of fun so far.

Also update. Eta was supposed to be today with axle. No go. Dealership seems to have no idea when. @JeepCares is working with them and might have an update Friday.

Update from my dealer visit.
Confirmed leaking axle seal. Confirmed new axle shaft is needed.

Part was ordered - service department told me it was backordered and there was absolutely no eta given.

Told it was safe to drive but since they have no timeline want me to stop by about once a month and have them double check the fluid level. Supposedly they topped it off today after confirming the leak.

Man, I don't know how you managed to get them to do that, but I've been waiting on an axle since 8/9 and just got my 5th date delay to 10/11. That's with Jeep Care involved.
I have no idea on the inner workings.
Do hope you get yours soon.

I rather keep the dealerships loaner because they will get tired of me having their loaner and work harder to get my Jeep fixed. As far as not forget about me. There will be more of an urgency.

Eh. If the part was sitting there and waiting to go I might agree with that. However it is not their fault they can't get an ETA. They can't magically make one get made, and I understand there could be hundreds of other JTs waiting in front of me. Is what it is.

The leak is minor enough there's no pooling. They have the order in. They have offered to continually check it. I still have to pay for my truck even if it sits in their lot.

My dealer has always been great. I trust them to tell me when the part comes in, and and am much happier to keep driving the JT then sit in a rental. Rentals are a hassle to me.

Trust is a word I can't use since I've never been to this dealer before and I don't know them. Looks like the difference between our situations, unfortunately for me.

Sorry to hear yours is having so many difficulties. I've learned on this forum I apparently have one of the few good dealers right near me.

I hope this new one for you improves.

I heard back from FCA customer care on my open case today (took them several days to get in sync with my dealer).....part is indeed apparently on at least a month backorder, but even that seemed uncertain. They are now looking into it more and will get back to me.

Interesting and short video of a DIYer changing the seal, bearing and retainer on an earlier D44. Sure seems like any self respecting service department mechanic would be able to tackle this job. I wouldn't be afraid to do it if I had a press. At least I know what I'm in for after my JT is out of warranty.

POC (piece of cake). I've done dozens, maybe hundreds, of axle bearings, seals, whatever. Most recently in the Dana under my 04 WJ
You don't need a press.

You carefully cut the retainer with a torch (now I use a Dremel with a wheel), and do similar with the bearing.
A long piece of pipe acts like a slide-hammer to install the new bearing and retainer.

I got so good with a torch I could cut bearings off and not scar the axle, I could cut exhaust pipes and not even turn the other pipe too hot, not even nick it with the torch.

Red line points to where I split the retainer, I knocked the cage off then split the bearing itself, everything pretty much fell off. That ring is part of the bearing cut that literally BROKE off!
I have a press and use a press to remove the bearings on some axles and cut them off others.

Just took my 2021 jeep gladiator willys for an oil change and first service just got a call stating the rear axle seal is leaking on the passenger rear told me they don't have a specialist in today to look at it and soonest apt to get it fixed would be end of October... Jeep had 5600 miles on it and was going in Monday to get the lift kit installed.
