Over 5k now on the Gladiator. First "Jeep Wave" service went just fine, as expected. Oil change and tire rotation. Had the service work done on the Silverado as well. At 15k miles now. Still just humming along. Also, the oil change on the Chevy was $123. I'm assuming the Gladiator will be about the same when I'm done with my "free" ones.

My dealer lists them around $180. If you renew Jeep Wave, that is supposed to give you three more for $225.

Cool. Didn’t even know that was an option. Thanks!

I was on the original Jeep Wave plan with four changes over two years. When I had the last change done, I asked about the future cost. The dealer also sells service plans, but I wasn't impressed enough to remember the pricing.

I have not yet had time to review the Wave renewal plan and how long it covers. If it's what it's supposed to be, I'll renew and schedule the changes and rotations equally over the coverage period. Depending on my mileage, I may do some changes in between.

Hey OP. Every time you tell us the MPG you're getting you are just showing what the dash is telling you. I have no idea how accurate the information is on the Gladiator but I can assure you that not one of the high end vehicles [Audi, Mercedes, Cadillac] real MPG has come close to the BS the electronics are showing. I always do real math to get MPG.

Can you please fill the Jeep and write down the exact mileage or use one of your trip meters to get the exact mileage you've driven when you next fill up and then divide your mileage by the gallons you needed to fill and report back to us the math MPG compared to electronic one?

Thanks in advance for doing so and thanks for the review.

I‘m assuming that it’s close, but probably not dead on. There’s some “slush” in there I’m sure. I’ll be heading to Knob Creek on Friday so I’ll be killing a complete tank of diesel in one go so it’ll be pretty easy to do as you are asking.

As an aside, I’ve been going to the Knob Creek shoot on and off for over 20 years. This is the last one and I’ll be sad to see it gone.

I hand calculate most every tank on my diesel, the dash consistently shows 1 mpg more than actual.

So we got back from Kentucky yesterday. Let’s start off by saying the Jeep was excellent.…. I’ve been going to the Knob Creek machine gun shoot on and off for over 20 years. This was announced as the last one. I expected a crowd but it was insane! My wife and I got to the area Friday around 10:30am. My usual route was 31 to KY-44. Traffic was backed up on 31. I’ve NEVER seen that! GPS rerouted us through some back roads. Got us closer but still about 2 miles away. We waited an hour and a half and never got closer than 1 mile. Found out the cops had closed the entrance due to capacity at 10:45am.

We ended up aborting that attempt and got some lunch. Found this nice little hole in the wall catfish place. Had a covered deck looking over a lake and the best damn catfish sandwich I’d ever had. We were close enough to the creek we could here the explosions and the Huey flying around. Based off news I was getting from forums we didn’t even try going back again. Hit a nice winery up on a hill then went for some Italian after checking into the hotel. All in all a nice road trip even though it wasn’t what we’d intended to do.

Now to the good stuff. Put about 600 miles on the Gladiator in two days. The drivetrain was everything I’d hoped it would be. Effortless ability to hold 80+ with plenty more juice on tap. Also, looks like the speed limiter in the high altitude must be set possibly to 110. At one point zipping around some idiots on I-65 I “might” have seen 103……

It looses about 2mpg doing 80+ versus 60+. Dash said I got 25.2mph average. My hand calculations put me exactly 1mpg lower just like the poster above.

The truck behaved extremely well on the trip. Very stable and comfortable on the expressway. The hotheads sound deadening kit continues to impress. It’s not as quiet as the Silverado but it was totally livable at speed. No headache or anything from the background sound after 4-ish hours straight. I’m extremely happy with the Gladiator and my minor updates. Now for some Rubicon take-off wheels and tires for the winter…..

Finally a good review... I am not sure why there is so much negativity over the diesel... I find it a great platform, freight train like torque and almost makes me giggle when the turbo is spooled and pulling me into my seat... owned a lot of jeeps and never came this close to satisfied with the power... I might even say its TOO much power.

I made a round trip drive from Phoenix to Albuquerque down to Las Cruces and back to Phoenix, almost 1000mile roadtrip and got 30.6MPG reported on the meter!!! I had a 4 banger rental Dodge Journey, it got 22mpg going to California and back, and that 4 banger didn't do much above 80 like the gladiator can....

I’m closing In on 7k miles on the Gladiator and am at about 16,700 on the Silverado. Both just chugging along.

I recently got a Krown rustproofing treatment on the Gladiator and I’ll start a new thread in the appropriate area for that. I am at this point impressed with it though.

I should be sourcing some Rubicon or Mohave wheels/tires in the next couple weeks for winter……

I was taking a left turn somewhat fast trying to beat the light, gave the skinny pedal a tap and the back end broke loose like it was nothing. I was amazed because I didn't think I hit it very hard at all. This is the first vehicle i've had that is able to do that so casually. Also the first vehicle that I can feel the engine torque the whole frame when I go between R and D. It's so good.

I'm a bit over 2500 miles so far and loving every second of it!

Got a set of JL Rubicon take offs from Baseline 4x4. Very happy with how it looks and drives! The factory 20’s will go back on in the spring.

Also, I’m at 7200 miles. Zero issues and I love it more every day!

Another 1k miles and nothing to report. Still loving the diesel 6 months later. 8200 miles now.

Did a little “off roading” in the field on some family property. KO2’s worked great. Only had to engage 4wd to get through some mud and go up a pretty steep hill. My wife and I are planning on doing the Jeep Adventure Academy next year. They do one down in southern Indiana.

Also, getting ready to roll 18k on the Silverado. Other than oil changes and the belt tensioner (covered under warranty of course) everything has been perfect.

Now that the weather is getting colder I am going very soft. Getting really used to the heated seats and steering wheels in both of them……

No real exciting updates. Just shy of 9k miles on the Gladiator. Going to be scheduling the 2nd oil change next month. Still love the diesel, still running great. Silverado went in for an early oil change last week just shy of 19k miles. I noticed a dragging feel and some squealing and grinding coming from the rear brakes. Turned out to be a rock stuck in a caliber. Had to replace the fuel filter and cabin filter as well. Interestingly this was the first fuel filter replacement this dealer had done on the baby Duramax.

Both are still running great. My peak “50 mile average” mileage on the Silverado is 33.3mpg. Both have dropped since we’re running winter blend now plus the Rubicon wheels and 33” KO2’s don’t help on the Gladiator.

Picked up a Bestop Sunrider as a Christmas ”gift” for the Glad and signed up for the Jeep Adventure Academy in May. I’m pumped!

Anyway, an early Merry Christmas!

Whatever you want...I can supervise!
Two reasons. Number one, Jeeps are much easier to use as a toad vehicle. Second reason, the GMC looks like most any other half ton pickup the Gladiator is a wow type vehicle. With the improvements I have already made it may be my favorite vehicle of all, and I have had well over a hundred vehicles.
Please explain "toad" vehicle....not familiar with that phrase (must be a pop culture West Coast thingy ma bob...kidding)...just trying to push your buttons...wanna see those "hundred" vehicles!
