I did it earlier. That was an unnerving few minutes. I also reset a bunch of adaptives to expedite the re-learning process with 37s.

I did this function on my 2020 Gladiator with a Thinktool Pros scan tool. Not something I would recommend doing unless you suspect an actual problem with the VVT system. It is two tests, one for intake and the other for the exhaust phasers. Both test will make it sound like your top end is coming apart before it comes out of a completed test.

Please tell us more about the adaptives. I am getting ready to go from 33s to either 35s or 37s on my JTM with 3” lift. I want it to drive as well as it possibly can afterwards.

DAVECS1 has explained it somewhere.
It thrashes (note the h in that word LOL) the phasers back and forth hard to clean them, takes them from extreme to extreme, an exercise.
I also wouldn't do it without cause.

Ty

yea, I don’t intend to. I just need to keep reading to understand why someone would do it. The link @Gvsukids provided had a lot of good info in it. Just a heavy read for my tired fried brain.

PCM Reset Memory (Petrol) > All
TCM Reset Adaption values - ZF

The computer will relearn and adapt over time but my truck only gets driven on the weekends to I wanted to speed up the process.

Ok, I will see how it goes and then look into it more. Mine only gets driven a few days a week also but I can always drive it more if I want. I begrugingly drive my Altima to work a few days a week to save gas.
