I tried and the tire made contact with the hitch receiver on the way up even deflated to about 15 psi.

I didn't think to look when I tried. I ended up moving the spare tire winch to my bed rack after it didn't work.

I'm ok with deflation

I tried with the used patagonias and they wouldn't fit. I also am rubbing on my mudwidth bumper and switching to a stubby.

I'm thinking about 40s and either swapping the rear bumper for JCR with the carrier, or having the shop notch the frame to fit a 40 under. No need for a tow hitch so don't have that issue.

I have a bed rack that's coming in today so I might just go on top like the Colorado and Tacoma people do

This is how I have mine mounted but with Road Armor's system instead of Rebel's. The nice part about this is that the spare fills otherwise unused space over the bed. Bumper mounted wasn't an option for me because the extra length meant I wouldn't fit in my garage anymore.
