I always wondered if people use the Ravelco, I never see much talk about them but they have been around for a long time.

https://www.ravelco.com/
Their website is pure 90s. I love the concept but IDK if it's for me. I would only ever need a killswitch every once in a while as it is, so I can see installing it like under the backseat or something clever though.

Anyone use/swear by a faraday cage for your fob?

What happens in an auxiliary battery failure? Just asking because then the auxiliary switches are not available until main battery powers them after several minutes of charging first, not trying to be funny but how do you start your truck if the kill switch is dead? Maybe I'm sleepy but I fully get a hard on/off switch like in the video, just not the auxillary buttons I guess.
Yeah you are right I would probably be screwed if that’s how the auxiliary buttons works

I just looked again and you are correct, wow! Maybe they are just an old company chugging along.

What’s the use case here? If it’s to prevent someone from starting your car if you’re not there… well, like others have said, that’s your FOB.

If it’s to foil a car jacking, then I don’t see that this would do anything. If your car jacked and the car is on, if you remove the fob, the car will not shut off.

Thieves that want the whole truck while it's locked and parked are just gonna tow it. The only time they're going to be able to drive off with it is if they carjack you, in which case you've already disabled the kill switch. I can't really see a situation where a kill switch is going to save your bacon.

I don't know. Maybe I just don't get it. To me, this all just seems like an extra burden for the owner that isn't really going to help prevent anything.

I have the Ravelco in my JKUR, heavily modded in SoCal, great target, works great, still have the Jeep as proof. Its peace of mind. All of the stolen Jeeps here have been "hotwired." Its been very quick and simple thieves are gone in under 1 minute.

The kill switch in the video just interrupts power to the "Start/Stop Engine" button.

This video better demonstrates the modification...

Yup this is must do mod, i was wondering if the CANBUS wires work with these switches or not but, it works. you have to solder it.
As long as you have Mobile Locksmiths' Keymakers pods, there is no fix for this problem unless you do $ this or Ravelco $$$ or one of those auto alarm guys bypass system $$$.

Dodge promised a security fix to curb theft of Chargers, Challengers, but it still hasn't happened

Several people here have gotten the "Aux switch not ready" (or was it not available?) message - they could not use the switches due to aux battery issues.

Solutions looking for problems. Anyone who knows these things will instantly look for simple kill switches because of the lack of messages on the cluster, etc.

My dads trackhawk got somehow hacked and stollen from our driveway and we have had other breakins in the past. That’s why I installed it.

Edit: I’m from a northern Chicago suburb close to the city

Do you know it was "hacked"? Not saying there wasn't something similar involved, but they don't have to hack anything to steal what they want
Ever watched guys pull up with car dollys and take off with a vehicle?
When my former boss was asked by the police or state patrol to impound a vehicle you'd be surprised how fast he could hook up and take off with a car or truck.
Too many people also keep the fob hanging up by the door just inches or feet from the vehicle in the garage or driveway. Not real clever.

Ya I’m sure the car was locked but our neighbors camera saw them open the door start it and drive off without a key. I was thinking that maybe they had a repeater device or something.

They had to be duplicating a signal........ it's a good reason to keep the fob totally isolated away from the truck when parked (not within 20 feet like hanging on a wall just inside the house) and use it sparingly - don't push buttons unless absolutely needed.
I don't know if having passive entry (proximity locks) makes any difference as you aren't sending a button push to the truck from any distance.
Reminds me of when we were trying to detect a rogue WiFi access point in our agency - we wandered around with notebook computers and software and tracked things down.
Time to line pockets with RF blocking fabric like my wife does for the holders she makes for her credit cards and stuff.
