I like the height adjustability of the TUWA racks. You can use it as a lumber rack at or above roof height and lower it to put a RTT on for a trip.

Checked it and love the look and versatility but the dynamic off-road weight capacity is dodgy for me ??

Rebel Off Road Rack with 23 Zero Walkabout 62. I used to have a Voodoo mid height and couldn’t stand it. Didn’t leave much room in the bed, and it felt kind of flimsy. Certainly didn’t inspire a lot of confidence that it would hold up over time with serious off road use. This rack on the other hand feels bullet proof.

The 23 Zero is an awesome tent. We’re very happy with it. Its very well designed. The mattress is about as good as you can get, and the interior blackout coating works exactly as advertised. If you zip every thing up you won’t see your own hand in front of your face. I don’t care if it’s noon on a cloudless day.

This one checks off all the right boxes and they sell bed rails as an option. I’ll have to find some local retailers otherwise I’ll just place that order online. Any extras that you would recommend getting with the basic package?

Here are two setups I've used. The first is Yakima Overhaul HD, the second alucab explorer canopy. I really liked the overhaul because it gave me precise height adjustments (kept tent within an inch of the top), but wanted more bed security for long haul trips. I recommend either of them.

What’s the wind noise like in the tent? I like that they are low profile but in raincouver never know conditions I’m gonna be out in

I've got a Diamondback Tonneau with the Front Runner rack kit and a RAOM Adventure Co Tent.

I honestly couldn't be happier with the setup.

With my lift and 37s it's basically the perfect height for the annex.

When everything is all packed up, it adds essentially no height to the vehicle.

When I'm not using the tent, it's super easy to remove the rack system with the tent still attached and leave it hanging from the ceiling in my garage and gain the full functionality of the Diamondback... plus wheeling with it on there sketches me out. I don't like the extra weight up there for no reason plus It's an expensive piece of gear to put at risk when it's not even being used.

I plan on leaving it on all year long for impromptu road trips. Have you had any issues with mold or mildew or any funny smells?

Question from an Overlanding noob. Do you guys take your tents off the rack when not camping?

I take mine tent off in the fall, but leave it on all spring and summer. I leave the rack on year around.

Thank you for all the feedback, the rebel off-road rack is what I’m leaning towards going to get in contact with them. For rtt I’m currently looking into ferretti tents since it also has channels for potential accessories.

One I wish I would’ve gotten is the camp table/bracket they have. It lets you mount a camp table directly to the top of the rack on the inside. Looks like a handy little extra. Also the propane tank mount is handy.

I don’t like the look of the roof height bed racks so that limited me to fold out tents. I have the OVS nomadic 3 and it’s got a ton of room inside. The only thing I don’t like about it , and any others of this style, is the cover to put on and take off can be cumbersome especially if you’re in a hurry or the weather sucks. The hard shells look much easier to operate. The skykamp mini from ikamper also might for the bill for mid height but the interior space isn’t as much as my nomadic.

Just purchased this tent too, where did you find white? I got dark grey. I'm mounting mine on KBVoodoo crossbars below the roofline as well. Any regrets?

There is a local shop that had one in stock. They also had it online for awhile. The white looks cool but I think it lets a lot of light in—but the rain cover resolves that.

no regrets for the price paid. I got mine on sale for 1300. I’d eventually like to get a hard shell one so it’s easier to open and close and one that allows me to keep my bedding in it.

No not at all. The covers on these things are really good.

I’m picking up a jcr full height rack Saturday. I’d prefer the mid height rack but the price is right. My tent is an FSR Adventurer 55GS, and it’s all going on my 20 MaxTow I just picked up.
Just a matter of getting everything put together lol
