Completely off topic, but I inherited some Nike Air Jordan socks from my basketball-playing son when he outgrew them. I can with 100% certainty tell you they are worth the money. Soooooooo much more comfortable than any socks I have ever worn in my 53 years on this planet. I'm convinced I can run faster now.

Since we’re on socks…

i was against buying anything the army would issue me..until a buddy sent me to these guys.

these socks have lasted for 9 years and multiple deployments.

well worth the investment

I had real actual experience with my JK and JT 3.6, both AEV units. No change in mpg or power. Saved my ass in my JT last Spring though, accidental miscalculation on a creek crossing that flooded. Not sure if I would ever get one again, unless I got serious about travelling again.

This is why I'd get one. Sometimes that puddle is a little deeper than it looks.

I love this thread.

There are all kinds of marketing and hype out there about snorkles. Theoretically, you are pulling cleaner and colder air than from the engine compartment intake. Even if that were true and verifiable, the air would have to be significantly colder and therefore denser and cleaner to make any measurable difference.

The eco diesel gets pretty good mileage bone stock considering it is a rolling brick with regards to aerodynamics. I am actually concerned about bringing the mileage down from stock because of my mods. I plan on a Mopar 2" lift and leveler kit with 35's. I ended up with a much lighter alloy rim and went with the K02's because they are 10lbs per tire lighter. I also am going to go with an Al front bumper to try and offset some of the weight of the 12k winch I'm adding.

Will all that make a difference? Probably not. But, it makes me feel better and that's what really matters, right?

Years back on the Power Wagon forum. A bunch of guys was hydrolocking their motors just by running through deep puddles. A stock 3G Power Wagon draws air right behind the right headlight. Almost a straight shot into the air filter housing. Deep enough puddle with enough speed. One broken motor. I filled my housing up a couple of times before I got the snorkel. Last year at our yearly Rausch Creek meet. 2 guys hydrolocked their motors. Same water hole. The Frog hole. Just google it.
If someone made one for the diesel. I would buy one.

No really. I've had my Power Wagon in water over the hood. It depends on how hard core you are at 4 wheeling.
You do that with a Gladiator, and you’ll flood the alternator.
That won’t make the alternator very happy.

I had my JTR going with a good bow wave in front of me, water just started to creep over the hood. Glad I had my Rugged Ridge high top on. Pretty muddy water and no issues with the alternator but I have heard people having problems. When I installed it, I recall part of the stock intake being right behind the passenger headlight. Am I mistaken?

The big issue with having water in the engine compartment is the idler pulleys on the Power Wagon. After taking the truck swimming. You can count on changing the pulleys out in a 1,000 miles or less.
