I went in to build a new 2022 Sport S with a manual transmission and cold weather package (heated seats /wheel)

The salesman is telling me that I cannot get this package in a manual and that I MUST upgrade to an automatic (another $2000+)

Looking over the configurator, I should be able to get this package minus the remote start bits.

Does anybody here have a 2022 manual with the cold weather package?

Not a 22, but I do have a 21 with a manual and cold weather.

You should be able to get the cold weather package and because its a manual, does not come with the remote start. The remote start cannot be used with manual but heated seats and steering wheel should be available.

That was my exact reasoning, but he insists that it cannot be done.

I think it's time I went to another dealership.

I saw your title and immediately thought "of course" because it's a dealership.

Then i read your post, and probably not tbh. The price difference between an auto and a manual is 2k the invoice price difference is 1800. I can't imagine in a million years trying to talk someone out of their preferred transmission over $200. Commission is 20% tops. No one risks losing a sale over $40, especially a stupid $40.

While I don't think Hanlon's Razer normally applies to dealerships, because they are all scum (trust me, i was scum once), i think in this incidence you can apply Hanlon's Razer, while also conceding the Grey's Law variation that states: "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.”

Edited to add: All car salesmen are scum is an overly broad statement that is not fair to all car salesmen. Only 99% are scum.

I ordered a 22 last month, manual with cold package. No problems. Currently in D1 status with a ship date for tomorrow (which of course won’t happen). But it’s definitely possible, or at least was last month. Jeep’s ordering criteria seems to change monthly.

I agree with this statement (well put btw), but it's moreover that he insists that it cannot be done. He hasn't even tried asking any of the other salespeople if they have been able to do it, just keeps saying no and to get the automatic if I want the cold weather package.

It just sounds like a lazy response to me.

I would agree. Always remember you can ask for a new salesman if the next nearest jeep dealership is too far away. Having his management know you want a new salesman because this guy wont sell you a truck the way you want it and know you can have it will make larger waves for ol' lazybones than if that dealership just never sees you again.

I don't think they're trying to rip you off, I think they're just a little incompetent.

Give them one last ultimatum "You can definitely order it like this, so let's figure it out or I go elsewhere". Then if they say no, go elsewhere. They'll only have themselves to blame at that point.

Often they think you'll do what they ask because you're already there and won't bother digging further. Put some pressure on them. Make it clear that you don't need them and they might, might, put in a little more effort.

Sometimes a kick in the pants like that is all it takes for them to get it right. Sometimes.

Not a '22, but I have a manual 2021 rubicon with the cold weather package. I would not buy any other way any more. CWP is a must.

22 Sport S, manual and cold weather here. Sometimes manufacturers drop or add specific options for no apparent reason.

If you think that dealer is full of it, go to a different one.

I'm going to stop in on my way home from work in about 20 minutes and see what they say. Ill keep you updated as soon as I know. Thank you guys for reassuring me that it is doable.

Whelp, it official. They've lost a sale.

Talked to the original salesman again who STILL insisted that I could not get a gladiator in manual with the CWP.

Asked to talk to the sales manager and he too said that they've never been able to get a gladiator in manual with the CWP.

I presented my argument with the feedback you guys gave and he said that your CWP must have been independently installed by the dealership after you ordered them.

I walked right then and there.

On to the next dealership!!!!!!

FWIW, I just built a '22 manual Sport S with the Cold Weather Package right on the jeep.com website. Onto your next dealership! :jk:
