Two questions:

1). Is this for 2022?
2). Have you done one of these before? If so can you walk us through the day?
Sorry. Looks like I posted last years ad. I’ve never been. Passed a bunch on the highway heading down last year and then asked a friend what’s the hubbub? He had never been either, so I plan on going this year because I know where to escape the chaos if there is any.

I can help a little here.

The 2022 dates for Go Topless Weekend are May 20-22. The official Jeeps at the Beach TX event is being held at Surfside. The unofficial event that is a general Go Topless Weekend is also being held at Crystal Beach.

I have been to both Crystal Beach and to Surfside and I can tell you they are two totally different kinds of events.

The one in Surfside is for the most part a family friendly event. Jeeps at the Beach TX has a large event down there with sponsors, giveaways, a DJ, etc. You can drive one way on the beach but since it is considered a "highway", your Jeep must pass all Texas requirements like registration and inspection. You also have to wear a seat belt and there is no drinking while driving. Basically, same thing as riding on a road. It is one way on the beach and then you exit out on to the access road and can loop back around. There is a heavy police presence and they make sure things do not get too rowdy. Most people just find a spot, set up a few tents, grill some food and hang out with other Jeepers. It's pretty relaxed.

Crystal Beach is a whole thing in itself. Since GTW got so popular, it's no longer just Jeeps that go there but every side-by-side, 4 wheeler, F250, slammed Silverado, etc. decides they want to participate too. It's usually packed with a ton of kids that are barely old enough to drink alcohol and they just want to party. The beach is not considered a road or highway, so anything goes. At times, you can't even move 3 feet an hour because it's so packed. Definitely not kid friendly.

So, if you go, decide which one fits your lifestyle best and make a weekend of it. Either way, you're bound to have a good time.

Anyone wants to do a meet up let me know. If it sounds too crowded for anyone we could go to Bryan Beach just down the road. That’s typically where I go to do a little wheeling.

We are going to Matagorda this year for GTW. Last year, we went to South Padre. I will echo the sentiment about Crystal Beach... stay away, unless that's what you are into and in that case, stay away from me.

It's the same weekend. Matagorda is just nice and low key. We're camping out of the back of the JT for a few days and we will be running around in the wife's JLUR during the day.

That his and hers is AWESOME!
Thanks brother! When she finally decided she wanted a Jeep... we sent it! HAHA! I've got a pile of parts still sitting here for it too but I've got to wrap a few things up on the JT before I can "finish" hers!

Well I hit the sand for go topless and made one lap down Surfside beach. Then headed over to Bryan beach for a little dune wheeling.
