I went with Falken Wildpeak 285/75R18 tires on the stock Overland wheels, 2 inch Iron Rock steel spacers (front and rear), and DT8000 shocks. Found another Overland wheel on ebay and put a full size spare in the storage well too. The Falken tires will fit without a lift and without rub if you don't push the travel of the wheel on/off road.

I know this is an old thread but I'm thinking of doing this same set up but the guys I'm looking to have do it keep saying if I want to keep the overland wheels then I need to have wheel spacers or the bigger tires will rub the sway bar and it won't pass inspection. Did you have any issues?

I have 285/70/18s, not 75s, on a rubicon take off suspension. No spacers, no rub and no reason it would not pass inspection. They don’t stick out past the fenders. Dueler A/T Revo 3s. It handles better than stock. It feels more stable

FWIW, I have rubicon LE springs on mine, which as as HD as you can get so it sits almost level. The back is only about an inch higher than the front now. It raised my front suspension almost 2”. Somehow it doesn’t rid rough either. I don’t quite understand it, but I’m also not complaining.

Hi fellow jeep lovers, I recently brought my first real jeep, a JT overland optioned for comfort.

I am looking to upgrade just the tires and keep the stock wheels, I dont want to do a lift kit or add spacers yet.

My wants are better comfort (ride quality), rain/cold weather performance.

I dont mind road noise, sorry I know its a lot of requirements, any pictures with a setup like this would be super helpful.

Thank you all

Went with Falken 275/65/18 AT3. Best as I could calculate, did not change the profile of the tire, so not adjustments. 200K on them so far and they've run great in all conditions. Love the stock wheels - would never change them

I do not have wheel spacers and I have zero rub at full turn with the Falkens.

Your JT looks awesome!!! Are these pics with or without the 2" Lift. I would love to get this size if they won't rub on stock suspension with no lift!!!!!

I put 295/70/18 Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires on my stock wheels. Added a 1.5” leveling kit just to make it sit right, but it isn’t required if you aren’t worry about the rake or anything.

Rides like a dream!

Thanks. Does not rub on the suspension at all. Without leveling the front or installing a lift you might see tire rub on the front fender when under full articulation - when off-roading - but I believe I read somewhere (on this forum) that the bump stops are set to allow for 35s.

I just remembered I did need to cut the plastic front air dam wings that attach to the underside of the front bumper. The part is fully removable. I trimmed the sides back with a Dremel cutoff wheel - just followed the existing lines. It took a few minutes. When it's light out I'll try to snap a pic and post here. I still use the air dam with an aftermarket bumper and works great to keep mpg under control as well as offers some undercarriage protection.

Highly suggest 295/70/18 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs. Basically a 35. Super quiet all
terrain. Work without a lift as well. I have rubicon suspension and a terafkex leveling kit though. I also run a teraflex 1.75” wheel spacer (for aesthetics only). I didn’t always have it. They function fine without it. Just my preference.

Thanks to everyone for their help on this. I ended up doing the teraflex 1.5” leveling kit in the front and 295/70R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with the stock Overland wheels. I’m not sure if the pics do it justice but I’m loving how it turned out. It’s a little beefier and more aggressive looking without needing a lot of extra work/parts/cost. No highway driving yet but with 20-30 miles driven and max 55-60 mph so far the drive feels great and not sluggish and no speedometer issues like I’ve heard with larger tires. -Update after 30+ days - still no speedometer issues but if you are new to bigger tires, like I am, I have had to adjust my driving as the bigger tires do make the engine work harder and different shift points. I have adapted by generally driving slower and don't really notice it any more but when approaching 75-80 mph the transmission does move between the higher gears quite a bit as I go up and down hills on the hwy - in central VA there are not many truly flat roads. It's definitely worth the driving adjustment but didn't want beginners to think it doesn't have any impact on the drive.
