The 3.6 is such a thing of beauty it's sin to cover it,,,LOL.
You complain about a plastic engine cover that serves no purpose and can't be seen while the Bronco people can't get a plastic roof to hide the ugly interior.

Seems like about the same time they added a sticker under the hood advising not to spray-down (clean) the engine area.. coincidence?

That decal has been there since 2019.
It's akin to "caution, coffee may be hot" or "caution, spinning blades may be sharp, do not stick your hand in the blender", that sort of thing.
(and I've washed all of my engines multiple times)

You just HAD to bring this dead one back, didn't ya LOL

Yeah, that was pretty off the wall. But the internet is all about "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks"

That's for pressure washing. It's telling you not to use a pressure washer. You can still wash/clean it, just not with high pressure. Mine has it too. The owner's manual specifically mentions pressure washing.

LOL - good one!

Last I knew the car wash wands were high enough pressure you didn't point them at your hands or arms or face.
And I've used my own gas powered pressure washer (I don't live in CA so I can still run it) on my vehicles - just never with the red nozzle. That will strip to the bone and shred wood fibers.
Avoid directly hitting electrical connectors, that sort of thing.
There's also a trigger on that thing for a reason - let go, cut the pressure if moving through an area with connectors. Apply pressure only where it's safe. (and dry things off, leave hood open, etc)
Gotta warn the general public, who just can't seem to follow directions on anything, because they know some idiot is going to try to get the grease off that 20 pin connector and fill it with water from a 10,000 psi pressure washer. By saying "just don't do it" they hopefully stave off such morons. (and cover their butts from warranty claims when someone spills oil doing their own oil change and runs it to the car wash to clean off those wires)
They can't say "pressure wash with care" as that will get Cousin Bubba believing it's all ok.
They can't tell you some areas are ok, others not, etc. - it's easier to just say "don't do it".
Akin to "never use an extension cord with this appliance" - because some idiot will try a 16 gauge cord on a 15 amp appliance and run it 20 feet. I have cords so heavy.......... and I know when to not. They have to dumb everything down these days. Idiot proof something and they come up with a better idiot.

(I have also wrapped some things with plastic or tape or plastic and tape if I am really concerned - easier than fixing it later. Prevents direct blast of pressure)

My Willys has the diesel, and a lot of us take the cover off to help disappate some heat around the top of the engine. I took mine off the first day and it sits in the garage. If you really want one (gas or diesel) I bet someone on here will sell ya one. And I dont see where it was NOT sent on a new vehicle, I thought they all come with one.

There are a couple of communications to the dealers - TSB in at least one case - telling dealers they no longer ship with the cover and telling them not to install one because it's not "missing", it's by design.

It's official as of a few months ago - no cover on the 2022 with 3.6.
I have the communications to dealers in the house, can't access them from shop chromebook.

But water out of a hose has pressure. Hence, pressure washing. You can't use a hose.

The only way you can wash your engine bay is to let it soak. Like in a river or lake. Unless anyone here happens to have a 3000-gallon drive-in, drive-out water tank.

? :giggle:

Also, if your iPhone gets wet, you can dry it in the microwave. Use the popcorn setting.

You realize that a couple of folks here have washed their Jeeps that way....... there's a video or two of that out here.

I will admit, a drive through the river does wash the Iowa salt off the bottoms.

Anyway, be very careful, someone is going to read that and do it.......

So if the cover does more harm than good, should all the years remove the cover? How many 3.6's have been made??? way over 10 million. That's going to fill a landfill. Maybe grind them all up and make new engine parts.

LOL -
There's no basis at all for any thinking of it doing any harm, so we can all relax, keep it if you like it, remove it if you don't.
It doesn't hurt a thing other than get in the way if you want to work in certain things.

My grand cherokee L didn't come with a cover. 3.6s have alot of valve train noise, and it's definitely noticeable. The covers are surprisingly cheap to order and worth the money.

This is essentially what the Jeep service technician/mechanic told me. The new engine bay contents are designed to withstand pressure washing, just not where the nozzle is close to connections/wiring. I believe the user manual addresses cleaning the engine bay also
