Where do you see anything about a cylinder overheating? There’s a JEEP TSB stating they’ve eliminated the cover. It’s possible they’ve discovered an issue such as overheating in one cylinder.![]()
They probably started pulling them after they were built but not at the dealer yet. Too much work to remove the mounts. But I’m thinking they had a good reason to remove them. In a few years, it will leak out why they started removing them.Several of the 3.6 motors on Stellantis different vehicles are not coming with the cover. I know for example on the GCL there are certain trims that didn’t have it but most now do not. No idea what shortage caused this one but it’s just another example of how crazy this stuff can get.
Cover is not going to be your issue. Can the covers get loose and make a rattling sound by chance? I need to take mine off and see if that’s what’s causing the 3k RPM noise I hear.
Ack. Hope that’s not the case. I’ve been doing reading/research on the sound and the sound I see in videos isn’t the sound I hear… so here’s hoping.Cover is not going to be your issue.
There is a few other threads describing a 3K RPM rattle and main talking points on that is rocker arm and/or lifters as probable cause with some possible cam wear thrown in.
From an engine cover? There’s a JEEP TSB stating they’ve eliminated the cover. It’s possible they’ve discovered an issue such as overheating in one cylinder.![]()
That's pretty "way out there" isn't it? Those evil auto makers..........I said, “it’s possible…”. People are quick to assume Jeep is being cheap. There may be a technical reason, And it’s not likely they’ll share it with us. If any engines failed in any way because of the cover, they would likely try and keep it quiet, which is why they would stop putting them on, but wouldn’t create a TSB to remove existing covers. They do try to deny warranty claims, and if it is known that the cover caused an issue, they might be paying for more engines.
