Does my engine have the brackets to install the cover?
Anyone want to sell their OEM cover?

There’s a JEEP TSB stating they’ve eliminated the cover. It’s possible they’ve discovered an issue such as overheating in one cylinder.

I thought I read some ‘21s didn’t come with engine covers but the ‘22s have engine covers.

Where do you see anything about a cylinder overheating?

I said, “it’s possible…”. People are quick to assume Jeep is being cheap. There may be a technical reason, And it’s not likely they’ll share it with us. If any engines failed in any way because of the cover, they would likely try and keep it quiet, which is why they would stop putting them on, but wouldn’t create a TSB to remove existing covers. They do try to deny warranty claims, and if it is known that the cover caused an issue, they might be paying for more engines.

Several of the 3.6 motors on Stellantis different vehicles are not coming with the cover. I know for example on the GCL there are certain trims that didn’t have it but most now do not. No idea what shortage caused this one but it’s just another example of how crazy this stuff can get.
They probably started pulling them after they were built but not at the dealer yet. Too much work to remove the mounts. But I’m thinking they had a good reason to remove them. In a few years, it will leak out why they started removing them.

Can the covers get loose and make a rattling sound by chance? I need to take mine off and see if that’s what’s causing the 3k RPM noise I hear.

Cover is not going to be your issue.

There is a few other threads describing a 3K RPM rattle and main talking points on that is rocker arm and/or lifters as probable cause with some possible cam wear thrown in.

Ack. Hope that’s not the case. I’ve been doing reading/research on the sound and the sound I see in videos isn’t the sound I hear… so here’s hoping.

That's pretty "way out there" isn't it? Those evil auto makers..........
Engines aren't going to fail because of a simple cover. You'd notice if anything was over-heating because of the engine coolant temperature rising. You can't overheat anything without it showing somewhere, somehow. And all types of failures would sure be pointed out by owners here.
Been into auto repair for decades - a cover isn't going to overheat one cylinder or cause failures. If anything, they'd find it was not needed and didn't help anything.

So someone comes in here and says "it is possible" that they are no longer providing engine covers because they cause some problem? Nevermind that there are 13 million Pentastars on the road WITH engine covers. And nevermind the fact we are living in a world with monumental and historical supply chain problems, we're going to start conspiracy theories?

Give me a break. This is silly. They didn't want to stop production over a completely nonessential part. That is the obvious reason.

Life is too short to invent things to worry about. Just my 2 cents.

Mopar calls the cover “The Aesthetic Cover”…Bingo , winner ,winner chicken dinner, it’s for looks, doesn’t do anything, cover and bracket weight about 3.5 pounds , I shipped a free one to a guy that wanted it. It doesn’t protect sensitive wiring there is none, just two tubes. So I said it before in this thread, to each his own and if someone with a new JT wants an engine cover so be it, reach out to me and I’ll send my second one I had for price of shipping , which is $15-20!…..Jack
