Prices on vehicles are insane these days!! Jeeps have always been expensive, but I feel like the price premium between a Jeep and other vehicles have narrowed quite a bit.

Anyway, I ended up trading my 2-door for a 2022 soft top Willys Sport.

I now have 4 doors with back seats that can actually fit adults, plenty of utility and cargo space with the bed, the ability to go naked, and top tier off road capability with skid plates, anti spin rear diff and mud tires from the factory with the Willys package.

The only real competitor in the price range would be the Toyota Tacoma, and only if you stick with the SR5 trim. You would gain a bunch of fancy tech features with the Tacoma, but lose out on all the great features that make Jeeps what they are.

Anyway. My 2 cents.

Also, local dealer inventory for gladiators in general seem to thriving. Everything else, including Tacomas have very low inventory with dealer markups. In fact, Jeep is even offering some discounts and incentives currently. Do people not want Gladiators? Or is Jeep just able to keep up with production as opposed to everyone else? I sure see a lot of Gladiators driving around town.

Basically, jeep is focusing on gladiators and Wranglers, as those are the cash cows. High profit margins. If you want to special order though, delays can be quite long

Congrats on your Gladiator!

I wanted a Willy's Sport when I got my sport a couple of months ago, but there was not a single manual Willy's sport in the state of Florida at the time and I had 99,600 miles on my trade in and couldn't wait. Now I am working on adding the Willy's extras via after market, but still love my new truck!

Congrats on the Willy's ...
I bought on the last day of the month, the salesman was frothing at the mouth to make a sale. We actually went in looking for a second vehicle ( P/U) my wife had her eyes and mind on a used 2020 Colorado that I absolutely had no interest in.
When they whipped the deal on her, she looked shocked LOL, she retreated from the 45 K three year old truck real quick. And I told her for that kind of money we might as well buy a new truck ! They had a few Sports, and just one hardtop Willy's which was pretty loaded up with options. So once we drove it down the road it was a no contest.
But the dealer did not mention the Mojaves he had coming... Four days later a few Mojaves were on the showroom floor. That would have fit my pistol but we are happy with the Willys all and all.

You can always add the locker and shocks aftermarket.

my special order only took 7.5 weeks from order to in my hands ordering it this February and i ordered every single option along with hardtop and bedliner…i think jeep has their materials well in hand compared to others like ford, etc.

Agreed OP. That’s why I’ll be picking up a 2022 Willys Sport from Gupton within a month or so (as soon as it’s delivered). I didn’t want to pay >40k for a brand new vehicle and had no strong desire for all of the niceties that people think they need in todays world.
Ended up getting a price a good bit less than 40k (before taxes) and am thrilled with that in todays market.

100% agree, Reasoner. You took the exact same path I did for the exact same reasons. The Willys Sport is the best value, imo. The price increase from the Willys Sport to the Willys is pretty substantial (like $3500) and the only discernable difference is PW and PDL. When I ordered mine, the dealer said, "You know that this is the base model, right?" I said, "Yeah, I can roll my own windows for a few thousand dollars!":)

I was just about to put in an order for one because soft tops are usually a special order where I live and even the sport models are a little hard to find. I ended up finding mine at a local dealer. Willys sport with soft top is basically a unicorn for my area. The only issue was I maybe would have preferred the hydro blue or gobi color, and the one they had was black. I didn’t want to deal with ordering delays or my trade-in value potentially going down (dealer gave me a very good trade in price in hopes to make the sale that day), so I jumped on the opportunity and snatched it up.

The black is growing on me though. I’ve never owned a black vehicle. Hard to keep looking nice, but I will admit that black looks stunning when it’s actually clean.

Jeep Gladiator 2022 Gladiator Willys Sport is a bargain in today’s market… 1B972DE3-655C-4372-B2C1-4A3FB1F5B50F

I have a Willys. I've had no issues and with the Granite Gray it looks great. In hind sight I wish I got a Sport S with Max Tow just because it makes it a more complete truck. Eventually look to get an RV and the Willys won't cut it.

Pretty much agree. My only complaint of the package is there is no ability to get 4.10 gears through either a MAX TOW or other options.
