I have a 2021 Willys Gladiator with 12k miles and yesterday I brought it into a dealership (not where I bought it) for the 2nd time in a month with no AC. I brought it in to the same dealership 3 weeks ago also with no cold air but I could hear the compressor. The dealer checked the system, couldn't find any leaks, put dye in the refrigerant and told me to make another appointment if it happens again. So yesterday, they had the vehicle in the bay for less than 15 minutes and told me my hoses were leaking and they had to order me new hoses. I almost felt like they had no real idea but were going to try to remedy the situation that way. Has anyone else had any issues with their AC hoses leaking?

AC hose leaking is not really a topic I have seen come up if at all around here. Always a first for everything though. With the newer r1234yf refrigerant, the equipment to service it is pretty expensive and makes home diagnosis and even some independent shops not wanting to deal with it, a dealership only affair.

I didn't really see hoses leaking even decades ago when I did automotive AC systems (R12)
It was generally a connection (o-ring, for example) or compressor seal, something like that.
I have the original hoses on my SX4 (1982) and no leaks - at least not that makes it get low inside of 4 or 5 years.

If your system has been unsealed and sucking in atmospheric air for this long, I would be pushing them to also change out the A/C receiver/drier as the desiccant is probably spent absorbing moisture.

People Work?
These are the cases that scare me about Jeep. I suppose parts shortages are prevalent in all brands, but something like this just sucks.

@JeepCares , what can you do to help?

2 months later…two months hotter and I still don’t have air conditioning. I am still waiting for hoses from Jeep….pretty sad.
Call Jeep customer service and complain. On my 2020 Overland it took the dealer 3 or 4 months to get a rear window replaced. They issued a check to me that covered several months of payments…

I had a hose leaking on my Power Wagon. It was tough to find.

All they might be able to do is work with dealer on locating another way to get one - like from a different parts depot.
Otherwise, you hit it - it's NOT JUST JEEP!
Dealers have said there's vehicles on their lots for over 30 days waiting for parts, other brands have had to cut production. They can't get parts to build new, they certainly can't get them to repair existing.
If it ain't there, it ain't there!
I can't see why it should scare you about Jeep! It's all brands, even TOYOTA is suffering. Go hit the Chevy or Ford truck forums. I have - they are pitching fits too - blaming their own brand.
Baby formula shortage, I can't get my meds except at ONE pharmacy because it's just not out there and people are blaming Jeep for lack of parts?
Sorry, no offense - but read the news, do some digging. Stop blaming Jeep. There's much higher powers to blame.

^^ My only issue with your example is this...........if they have the parts to build new JTs, then FCA has parts. Its piss poor management at numerous levels

Been discussed before. Production parts and repair parts are two different supply chains with different lead times that really do not cross over to support the other very well. New build manufacturing always takes priority over repair parts stocking.

Pulling parts out of new build production schedule has many more cascading problems than a few delivered customers waiting on the same part.

All good info. Hootbro’s suggestion has me nervous…”If your system has been unsealed and sucking in atmospheric air for this long, I would be pushing them to also change out the A/C receiver/drier as the desiccant is probably spent absorbing moisture.” I went to the dealership today to inquire/complain and low and behold they now have my parts waiting as of this week. I have an appointment for next Wednesday.
