Some gem of a soul broke off a razor knife blade in one of my Cooper AT3s. At 32k miles either I replace just two or all four. I was wondering if the premium for the XLT is worth it. The truck is mostly highway with Colorado dirt and rock mix.

I had at3 xlt's on my ram before. They were basically highway terrain tires with a cool sidewall and a small bit more off road grip. Overally fantastic tires for what was really an on road truck that did the occassional dirty/fire road

Man- that sucks!

I’d troll Craigslist, offer up, and Facebook market place for a set of take offs!

Good idea on insurance. Ill check. Ill see what Discount says on repair today but I'm not holding my breath. I buy a lot of tires from them so maybe they will cut me a break.

@seven30, sorry to hear about your misfortune on your tire. Hopefully there isn't someone in your area doing this randomly.

I'm sure your store will do their best to get you taken care of.

So update.

The Cooper XLT is quite different than the 4S in terms how the truck responds to curves. While the XLT would compliment a larger truck nicely it detracts from the Mojave agility compared to the 4S noticeably.

I find that very interesting since I assumed the XLT was essentially just a tougher 4S.

I just couldn't face putting 40k on tires that Im less happy with but Discount came through and we switched to 4S.

Thanks Discount!

I will say for heavy offroad or contruction sites the 4S is a little light. XLT would be obvious choice there.
