Trying to figure out a rock lights solution. No lights prevented me from doing some night running. Don’t want that to happen again! Any advice from those who have tried it all?

Lux is a pretty pointless number. It is a measure of the intensity of light, or "luminous flux" on a given area.

I can have an incredibly high lux rating if I measure a weak light with a focused beam at close range.

What matters more is lumens. Lumens are a measure of the total amount of light put out.

Combine lumens with an idea of beam width and you get an idea of how brightly lit something is.

If I wanted to game the numbers with lux, I'd have a moderately powered light with a very very narrow beam. Then I could legitimately claim a high lux number since the power is focused on a small area. An example of a light with low lumens but very high lux is a laser pointer. On the tiny spot where the laser is shining, the number of lux is through the roof. But you wouldn't want to try to use it to drive with.

I totally appreciate your response but I’m referring to the brand Lux. High dollah rock lights

I believe he is talking about Lux rock lights, https://luxlightingsystems.com/ but it would be good to confirm. If talking about the Lux lights I can attest that they are worth the money. They attach with magnets which make them a fairly simple install. I have them on my JT and my JKU before this. On my JKU I had fabbed up my own light brackets and mounted pods and it was a LOT of work. After switching to Lux I never looked back. A bunch of guys I roll with have Lux lighting and love em. I don't think the company is always the easiest to work with and their marketing isn't great but they make a nice product in my opinion.

Okay. I browsed Lux’s website. They want $299 for the 8 light set. You get 4 lights that have 20’ leads and 4 lights with 10’ leads.

They want $139 for the 4 light set.

Why not buy two sets of the 4-pack for $278 and save $21?

What am I missing here?

I looked, and I don’t think you’re missing a thing. The prices were proportionate before the “sale prices”. If we accept that a trivial 1.6% price reduction on the 8-piece is in fact a sale. Seems like they should, have it as $278. Maybe it’s an error.

Both prices he quoted are for the white.

The 4 piece rgb set is $169 and the 8 piece rgb is $329.

It's kind of like they just discounted the 4 piece. If it isn't an error it is kind of strange...

So I had some on my JKU, then on my JT as well, 8 piece RGB set.
Pros: The lights are bright, never had one fail. Easy to install magnet mounts. High quality. Can easily move lights around to go from cool mall crawler, to functional work light. (I left a few feet of slack at each light for that reason)
Cons: Their controllers suck. Like big donkey balls suck. I originally had the credit card remote style simple controller. I bought the 3 channel controller because I wanted to be able to program the lights with custom sequences for parades. (I tow the float for the HS robotics team). The app was terrible, it erased all of my existing bluetooth devices every time I connected. They finally released a new app. It really isn't much better, other than it doesn't delete my bluetooth devices. Trying to get sequences to run is hit or miss. Sometimes last setting holds, sometimes it doesn't. I spent the 100 bucks on an XKglow controller, but haven't installed yet, waiting on new Gladiator to get here in a few weeks.
If I were to do it again, I would stick with the CC style remote and just live with the limited functions or buy their lights and get a different controller from another premium vendor. Their technical customer service is virtually non-existent.

I have a total of 12 LUX lights on my JT and love them. I have the 2 zone controller that was replaced with the 3 zone. I had 2 lights loose a color as I have the Max RGB and had replacements within a week. I have not switched to their app that they made yet and am still using XKchrome and have no issues with this app. Customer service has been top notch as well when i had to deal with them.

Serious question, not trying to be negative. Rock lights are next on my list. Are you all doing any development on your app in the app store? I was looking at your lights, but the large majority of app reviews this year are 1 star and they say it doesn't work.
Yes - We're doing tons of backend work to the original ColorSHIFT app at the moment. We are also in the final stages of development on an all new ORACLE Rock Light App, which will be featured for the new design RGBW kit I mentioned above.

Also, Happy Lighting is great alternative to the original ORACLE ColorSHIFT app and is 100% stable at the moment.

@JP_Oracle

Looking at the two of your options:
ColorSHIFT® Underbody RGB+W Rock Light Kit | ORACLE Lighting (oraclelights.com)
vs
ColorSHIFT Underbody RGB Rock Light Kit | ORACLE Lighting (oraclelights.com)

Wanting 8 pods. Is the difference the W only as a separate emitter in the pod? Is the only available in 4 pods?
