  1. A new hope ... (build journal and component reviews)

Okay, temporary fixing for the "Tesla Cyber Toilet" is good enough. And we've done test fitting of our new roof rack: Missed some small parts in the shipment, so waiting for these for final installation. Once that is done, I need to build some Maxtrax mounts that actually fit the rack...
  2. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Just as an FYI here: we have one of these for sale for half price (like new, plus shipping) ... it's the Origin version with the wooden lid, but otherwise probably exactly the same.
  3. California [SOLD] Camping Toilet – Trelino Origin M, clean and sanitized

I have a Trelino Origin M separating camping toilet for sale. It's fully clean and sanitized, as new, see photos. Full manufacturers description is here. It comes with Trelino bags and some additional replacement parts that might be needed after a while. At this point, it's as good as new. SOLD

Oh, yeah. Forgot that: we keep all our really important and expensive stuff in a daypack sized backpack each. That's wallet, laptop, camera, etc. We ALWAYS take this out when leaving the car. Too much of a pain in the butt if that stuff gets stolen.

@Steven_B – we are using liners for our clothing. We each have a luggage liner which has two flexible compartments, flexible meaning that each can take the total room of the liner. Clean on one side, dirty on the other. We do wash while traveling – it isn't too bad. Take a water proof bag and...

First toilet test fitting: Will have to build an "exhaust connection" on the right side, so that air can be pulled away from the toilet to the outside of the camper. We'll probably route the hose through the furniture and exit behind the rear molle panel. Until that is done, we can use it...

We definitely had a good time. This was in Portugal around Christmas:
  8. A new hope ... (build journal and component reviews)

Yeah, we were in Europe (Germany and Portugal) for six weeks. Visiting family, taking care of some stuff over there. We also brought back the composting toilet we have used in our camper there, a Biotoi (photos on their website). We weren't really happy with the Trelino for our intended use...
  9. A new hope ... (build journal and component reviews)

So, we are back in California and will continue the build. Things to be done in the next few weeks: Build the cabinet for the passenger side. This one will be higher than the bench on the driver's side, so we get some more storage space. Get the water situation sorted out. Meaning, find a...

It certainly won't make it very comfortable if it is possible at all, that is true. It does work in our Land Cruiser with FiftyTen cabin, mainly because the bed platform does not have the extension like in the Alucab. Without that, it should be possible. This is me on 450mm furniture: So...
  11. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

@Steven_B – thanks for the response. We are currently in Europe and thinking about just bringing back a BioToi. It's massively more expensive, but it works extremely well, even for "real" usage by two people. And it really is composting. I was just wondering, whether we had too high...
  12. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Quick question: have you had a chance to try it out? We have tried ours and aren't super happy with it. I guess it depends on how one wants to use it, but it doesn't seem to work well for us. We'd have to use it basically the same way as this one...

"Re-review" of the GP-Factor Full Redarc System A few months ago I reviewed the GP-Factor Full Redarc System for the Canopy camper and had some complaints about it. GP-Factor reached out and we worked on solutions together. I’ve send the unit back to GP-Factor and they did excellent work to...
  14. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Just in case anyone is wondering about the weight of the furniture: What can be seen in the picture is 36.5kg (~80lbs) plus the bedplate. Not including any content, like batteries, other electrics or so. It's not super light, but a comparison to Goose Gear or even to putting the same packed...
  15. A new hope ... (build journal and component reviews)

The interesting thing is when I contrast this to some storage boxes: The Zarges K470 cases we own weigh about 5kg empty each. The space in the bench module is roughtly comparable to three of these. A Frontrunner Wolf Pack Pro weighs 3.6kg and has significantly smaller interior dimension, so...
  16. A new hope ... (build journal and component reviews)

For those interested in weights of the furniture: The "utility module", 80/20 + wood dividers + lids and all hardware is about 20kg. The "bench module" including all lids, doors, hardware, mounting, etc. is about 16.5kg Total weight for "furniture" so far is therefore 36.5kg (~80lbs). There...

We spend the last three days / two nights trying out our build. And so far, everything has worked as expected. Not perfect, but pretty good. The highlights: Induction cooking is absolutely awesome. No more open flame, fussing around with gas canisters or bottles or, even worse, white gas...

Installed the @813 Fabrication & Design Camera holder and filler plate: The Canopy Camper fit kit should actually come with this for the Gladiator. It's easy to install, I used the cable that I took out of the tail gate harness, it works great. After removing the guide lines in the camera...
