Towed a large self propelled Scissor lift last week (should have taken pictures). Total weight was about 5200, probably had a bit more tongue weight than I would have liked because of the forward securing on heavy tilt trailer. No issues, towed only on flat roads, but had no problem. No Weight...
Half the comments on here are describing how the factory soft top works- the sides and back window come off very easily, leaving the top center section only- Pull the doors off and you have just a safari top......
Not sure about those beaches, but in TX the sand is like pavement- Camrys, BMWs, you name it its on the beach. Most of CA- you better have 4wd aired down and at least 6 inches of ground clearance. IF you are deserting or Duning it- 15 lbs is probably best (for ref, I run 8-10lbs on the Rubicon...
I'll agree that the Overland is the least popular trim for a few reasons and the differences are much higher than 2k. The Overland has a base price of 2k less than a stripped Rubicon on the sticker, but who pays that? The issue comes when time for turnover on the lot. Everyone wants a Rubicon...
Venator/winch 2.5 lift, Overland. The bumper itself is pretty light (most of it is the giant super heavy hooks that bolt straight on to the frame), and adding the winch after the lift didn't bring the front end down at all.
BTW, its mostly box, its big because the frame sides are fixed and do not collapse, A Big U shape. Its easy to store the soft top on a couple of hooks in the garage and it comes with a snap on Vinyl cover when folded up and off the jeep. (disclaimer I have the premium top)
The initial setup takes about an hour, Assembling the frame with the weather seal and lining up the bolts for the installation takes the most time. I had my Lange hoist from my JKU and there was an adaptor kit from Lange for the JT hard top. I have it down now that it now takes about 15 min to...
Unfortunately no- I have had the soft top on since the beginning of May, so I haven't put much effort into finding another solution. I am sure when I put the hard top back on next month it's really going to bug me again. I am surprised that more people don't have this issue.
I had lots of free time because of covid- pulled up the video on YouTube, got the required tools (an extra floor jack and a torque wrench) and paid a friend in beer to help- took about 3 hours total, did it in my garage.
TSB 4077- solution 3 inch Mopar lift on the front, none on the back- creating a 5% rear downslope; water runs to the bed- then out of water channel. Problem solved.
I almost kept the stock rims and was going to go with those tires because there is almost no other options (and I saw how they looked from this forum). The Fox shocks are super cheap on FB/Craigslist and almost did those too. Mine has 20% tint from the factory. We could have been twins very...
If you want to see some truly amazing ("scary") jeeps look up "Jeepney", or Google Filipino Jeeps. Its amazing what they do with the platform. Filipino's take jeeping to a whole other level. https://www.shutterstock.com/search/philippine+jeep
