I recently posted a response to a related tread on regearing, where I describe replacing the factory 245/75R17 Bridgestone Dueler A/T (33 lbs.) tires with 255/85R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T (63 lbs.).
Short answer is: recalibrate the tire size in the computer, drive as usual, minimal...
I pondered this same question recently as I was upsizing the tires. While the Gladiator is very capable for most of the trails I run, I was longing for taller boots. Did a lot of research to select the tires, rims, and suspension. My top two tire choices where BFG All-terrain T/A K03...
Sounds like a great step. Even if I do use temporary films, the fresh wax is recommended.
My planned trip is in fact going to be in the Ocala National Forrest. So this is very apropos. Thanks.
I appreciate the suggestion. These are in fact the 'self adhesive armor panels' that I listed. Fun fact: most of the Gladiator body is stamped in aluminum - only the bed is ferrous (magnetic)! So, for JTs and JLs, the 'magnetic armor' solutions are really held with a temporary adhesive...
Rrrriight. 🙄 Ironically, that has become part of my plan - I do intend to remove the doors (and mount the tube doors) before that ride. However, there is still the matter of the sides of the bed, and the fenders - those aren't coming off. ;)
I am planning a wheeling adventure with the 2022 JT Sport this fall in a location that is known for narrow trails and pinstripe scratches. I'd prefer to avoid the expected scratches and am looking for temporary protection ideas. So far, I've identified these methods:
paint protection film...
As I mentioned above, it my 2022 Sport did not include an optional tow package, but it did include "Electronic Trailer Sway Control", listed on the build sheet right next to the "Electronic Stability Control" and "Electronic Roll Mitigation". Not that a driver should rely on such counter...
My 2022 Sport came new with a 4 and 7-Pin connector, but it is not listed on the equipment manifest or sticker. (Might it have been installed by the dealer?) I added the hitch later and have used it.
Something else to know . . . All Gladiators include a Dana 44 axle, front and back. However, the MaxTow axles are actually a bit wider than standard, presumably for a better stance for towing.
I learned this while researching wheel options and offsets for my Sport as I was planning my next...
Just speculating here, so do test this theory . . .
Is it possible that the 120V ground is tied to the chassis ground? You can confirm that with a simple ohm meter. If so, then is seems reasonable that you could tie the remote outlet's ground to the chassis ground to secure the ground plane...
BTW, I have been running a Zeak (now branded AOTOWO) for two years and an completely satisfied. I picked it before seeing this video, but am not surprised by the results. I use the which 3-4 times per year, most often just to clean and maintain its synthetic line.
You are welcome. Good point, that one should be mindful of power capacity. You are correct that the 275 was designed to be powered from that source.
The Jeep's 12v dash outlet is rated for up to 160W, 13A @ 12v. (More than 13A will blow the fuse, per the manual.)
The MXT575 maximum current...
I had a similar requirement mounting a Midland MXT275 to the passenger side of the console. My solution was to tap into the 12V power outlet circuit (i.e., the 'cigarette lighter' socket). This is a higher amp capacity circuit, but note that it is only powered when the vehicle is in Run or...
I have a 2022 JT Sport running stock A/T tires. The only suspension modification is a 1.5" Teraflex leveler. That setup performs successfully across most trails I've run up to difficulty 6-7/10, though 7 is pushing it. (Need/want taller tires 🙂.)
Zeak Winch has since been rebranded to AOTOWO. This message arrived in my inbox today:
