Its 15f here and my diesel glad started right up. I did put some hotshots winter with anti gel in it. I do put it on a charger via the 7-pin trailer plug every now and then to top the batteries off.

I think your charging idea is fine. But also think 25 miles a day driving (which you seem to do) should be enough to keep your batt charged.
