  1. Electronic annoyances (rant)

Overall, I really like my new ride (2023 base Sport), but some of the electronics... not so much. Most I guess I gotta live with, but maybe some can be fixed? That annoying warning that pops up on the touchscreen ("avoid distracted driving", etc.) that pops up on the touchscreen every time you...
  2. Guardian - is it even worth bothering?

I think people are confusing Guardian with remote commands, which are part of the app. I definitely have Guardian on my base Sport (crank windows, no buttons on the key fob, 7" screen). Assist, SOS, health report, remote reading of odometer, tire pressure, fuel level, location, etc., are all...
  3. Guardian - is it even worth bothering?

Well, I finally got an answer from Sirius... contrary to what the dealer told me, remote commands are NOT available on my vehicle. Thus, for me at least, Guardian is NOT worth bothering with, and I certainly won't be renewing it once the free trial ends. I don't need an app to tell me my...
  4. Evolution.... where did you start? Or is the Gladiator your first Jeep?

My first Jeep was a 1975 DJ-5D (postal Jeep, but left side driver like a normal car) of which sadly no pictures exist... painted olive drab by the PO, hand cranked boat winch on the front. Sliding doors, passenger seats salvaged from a Fiat Spider, 2WD but posi rear and 16" pizza cutter wheels...
  5. Does anybody know what this circle is on the rear bumper?

Nope, that style won't fit as the top of the bolt is flush with the upper face of the plastic. The plug needs to be hollow or even slightly domed.
  6. Racetrack Tailgate Light seen in the wild

    Looks very un-Jeeplike.
  7. Does anybody know what this circle is on the rear bumper?

Yes, it's where you cut to either install a hitch ball above the bumper (too high for most trailers) or a bolt for a receiver hitch under the bumper. The instructions for the Curt hitch I installed on mine say to drill it with a 2" hole saw. Now if I could just find a 2" black rubber or...
  8. Guardian - is it even worth bothering?

The app can't do the remote stuff? Is that why I can't find it? Are the remote commands only available through mopar.com?
  9. Guardian - is it even worth bothering?

It now seems to be activated. I suspect the dealer simply forgot, though they didn't admit it. Though when I say "activated" that doesn't mean it's working. On the same page on mopar.com, it says it's activated, and that it's not activated.
  10. Hmmmmmmmmmm .... Stumbled on this today

I've seen cheap plywood cut to fit and used as a bedliner, easy to replace when it gets warped or chewed up, but $4K? No thanks!
  11. Guardian - is it even worth bothering?

The dealer was supposed to set me up, but they couldn't get it to work and said it probably hasn't gone through yet, try again tomorrow. That was over a month ago. When I enter my VIN into the Jeep app, it tells me it can't be added, call this number... which goes to Sirius, which tells me the...
  12. Guardian - is it even worth bothering?

So I'm supposed to have a free trial of Sirius Guarding with my new 2023 Sport, but after over a month, I seem to have no account and the dealer hasn't been able to help. But it was never even made clear to me... just what does the app do? I understand the Assist and SOS functions, neither of...
  13. Heating options in your tent (RTT or ground)

And water vapor, which can lead to quite a bit of condensation inside the heated space. I know some people do it, but I wouldn't be comfortable with an unvented heater that consumes oxygen and produces CO2 while sleeping in a closed space. That's Provan. We have one and love it, but it's an...
  14. What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK]

I put the first real scratches in the bed, carrying lumber and steel reinforcing mesh for concrete. It really doesn't matter, it was inevitable sooner or later and I'm going with a spray in bedliner anyway, but it still seemed wrong to jam the sharp edges of the mesh against the front of the...
  15. Mud flaps, again

I got the mud flaps mounted this morning. These were the inexpensive ones from Amazon, oddly they say "Weathertech" in the description but I don't think they are (but they're similar). If I'd waited until today I'd have saved $12, there's a 20% black Friday sale. They're flexible plastic, not...
  16. New Jeep app, Uconnect app discontinued

I have yet to get it to work. I'm supposed to have a free trial of Guardian with the new vehicle purchase. The app runs, but when I try to add my VIN it says it can't be added, call this number... and when I call they say I have no Guardian app but they'll sell me one. But with a base Sport...
  17. Woodworking suggestions needed

Here's a couple of tables I made some years back. The first is a random pine slab of unknown origin with mountain laurel legs: This is from am oak tree we took down in front of our cabin, legs are again mountain laurel. The slab came off almost flat when I was splitting it for firewood; I...
  18. Help Diagnosing

To the OP, did you ever take it to the dealer and was it resolved? I'm seeing the same thing in my brand new 2023 Sport when coming to a stop as at a stop sign or traffic light. It doesn't do it all the time, but I haven't gotten a handle on just what the circumstances are. I gather it's...
