nice write up. looks like a pretty handy add-on.
this is probably a stupid thing to ask but wondering if would be possible for the programmer guys (tazer, ecri, etc....) to just program this feature somehow? fyi, i'm not an electrical or computer programing/engineering type so don't lambast...
It is surprising the drastic differences between dealers in expertise/ability to troubleshoot and/or fix something.
I've had my share of bad experiences but I don't ever remember getting sent home with the absurd directions some of you have gotten with this issue.
Maybe try a different dealer?
If anybody from jeep actually reads these things,
Why arent the def heaters tied into the block heater, meaning when you plug it in the heaters would warm the def system along with the block/oil/coolant preventing the shit from freezing in the first place?
While I am at it.......another...
i'm sure asking this is probably frowned upon but.........are there any programmers out there that can offer a "simple" DEF bypass or programming patch/solution since FCA doesn't seem capable of creating a solution?
doesn't a defect like that fall under the lemon law statute or something? i just can't wrap my brain around the dealers and FCA telling you guys "sorry, no fix, just drive it till you have more problems or end up stranded". not totally sure what i would do but i don't think it would be a very...
unfortunately, gone are the days of live and let live. kids/we are no longer taught it's okay to disagree or have a different opinion from another and yet not hate them!
the bottom line is this specific scenario can be analyzed from countless view points and honestly valid points made from...
Seriously....... "just change it to make everyone happy"....... What makes one person happy pisses someone else off.
If the name of a vehicle that has been used for dozens of years offends you, I would suggest, you might be the problem.......not the name
I suggest everyone stop trying to be...
Anybody reading this......do NOT add these to your DEF fluid/tank..... these are all just normal antigel diesel fuel additives......I haven't found anything that lowers the freezing point or prevents DEF from freezing.
The coolant I believe.
not sure where the OEM cord is routed. I've read on other threads that it is typically coiled up in front of the battery from the factory, but the usual complaint seems to be it's not long enough to be accessible without opening the hood.
That's complete horse shit! It took 2 weeks to get parts but they at least replaced the def tank and heaters on mine and it seems to working......I don't understand why they won't at least do that as a first step/attempt.
Regardless, ill go back to one of my original statements, why in F$%k...
I would guess the odds are still largely on the side of not having any problems. That said, if you do happen to get a cel or see dealer message you'll have an idea what could be happening and know what your best course of action is.
happening again in the same mileage range is rather concerning to hear.
unfortunately the uptick in people reporting problems is pretty discouraging.
i love the power this motor makes but if it's gonna be in the shop every few thousand miles.....i'm definitely gonna trade out sooner than...
how can it be a problem so significant the system will disable the vehicle but can somehow rectify itself and clear the code.......no way. if all it took was a regen why would it throw a code instead of initiating regen. their story doesn't make sense.
