I was able to confirm today that it was in fact the forward collision warning.
There is a warning that comes up on the dash that says “BRAKE!”
I think the last few times I didn’t look at the dash fast enough. It disappears so quickly.
The other option is just finding a good Jeep show to put something together. Waiting for a bolt on kit may take awhile, and I imagine to get as low as he wants (which is a question that needs answering) you'll probably have to change some other stuff.

There is another post where someone is proposing that... you would need to wire them to relays since, if I’m not mistaken those buttons are wet contacts, they always have voltage (needs confirmation).

Yea, I will say, as much as I am against ESS I think the implementation in the Gladiator is as good as I've seen it.
It doesn't engage right away, there is a few second delay, and it requires the brake to be fully depressed.
