I was able to confirm today that it was in fact the forward collision warning. There is a warning that comes up on the dash that says “BRAKE!” I think the last few times I didn’t look at the dash fast enough. It disappears so quickly.

The other option is just finding a good Jeep show to put something together. Waiting for a bolt on kit may take awhile, and I imagine to get as low as he wants (which is a question that needs answering) you'll probably have to change some other stuff.
