  1. REAR ENDED - THIS IS A TANK

Not saying it's not impressive, and I do think the JT is very well built, but it looks like the low Honda bumper and hood saved you. I'd definitely try to get the new hitch if you can- I was rear ended with my F150 last year while towing my boat- hitch looked fine until they unbolted it to fix...
  2. Is it me, or does the JT really struggle...

Do you have the premium audio group? Fixed that problem for me...
  3. Gladiator most underrated, misunderstood vehicle on the road.

After owning my JTR for only about a month, I can say even as a decided buyer I didnt understand or appreciate just how good of a vehicle it is. In the first month Ive taken a 6 hour road trip with my wife and 2 kids, carried 4 adult coworkers for work trips, done some mild off-roading, towed...
  4. Can’t decide, need reviews from others.

Im more impressed by the day. 1800 miles on mine so far, they honestly ride better than the ATs. Had them in 8 inches of melting snow/ice/mud and water today for about 10 miles (thawing seasonal roads), never a problem, didnt even get to use 4 low. When they do slip they continue to grab and...
  5. School a Toyota guy on reliability

I've given up on trusting the various ratings- J.D Power etc... like others have said they are bought awards and not a true reflection of real reliability. I have owned 3 Ram trucks, a Charger, a Durango, and now a JL and a JTR. In addition I've also had a few Toyota and Chevy cars, and also...
  6. Can’t decide, need reviews from others.

Have had great luck with General Grabber ATX (and the older AT2 model). I have the AT3W wildpeaks on my F150 and I haven't been terribly impressed. Not as good on snow/ice as the ATX, and they ride a bit more rough when cold/ after sitting, they are the E rated version. Im actually more...
  7. Bed cover on the cheap! (From Chevy Colorado)

Understand wanting to save a bit with this cover at a great price- but losing the trail rails would be a no go for me. I went with the access literider, has version specifically for the JT with trail rails, and will work with some bed racks (jcr offroad for sure) when I eventually add that later...
  8. off road plus

Yep- Ill be crawling through the yard tomorrow testing this stuff out!
  9. off road plus

My impression is that it changes throttle response, possibly shift points and brings up off road pages on the uconnect. Not sure if there are other features that Im not aware of, I know at one point it was mentioned allowing rear diff lock, front open in 4 high, but im not sure where that...
  10. So many used Gladiators on the market.

Since so many appear to be dealer mods and demos Im guessing this is normal for an all new vehicle. I bet more dealers chose to demo the JT than other established vehicles just because its new. Others are also likely correct- there were probably alot of people who ran right out and bought one...
  11. Sport S with Max tow the way to go?

For me the practical difference is what matters. Im not as concerned with getting a citation as I am with safety and staying within the trucks limits. Yes I am sure there is some excess built into the numbers, so you may be safe a bit over the rating. I tow alot, and it is all fun and games...
  12. Sport S with Max tow the way to go?

Looks awesome- did you apply the hood decal? If so how difficult was it?
  13. Sport S with Max tow the way to go?

But if you add tires and a lift, new shocks etc...then what is the difference? I understand the door placard will show higher payload, but once you modify the truck like a Rubicon that placard is no longer accurate, sure if you get stopped and weighed it might save a ticket, but as far as the...
  14. Sport S with Max tow the way to go?

I was going to go Sport S max tow, but bought a Rubicon instead. A few things to remember with regards to towing and payload: If you throw larger tires and a lift on your max tow, you are really no longer at the same ratings as stock. Yes tires are unsprung weight, but the diameter difference...
  15. Nice honest review on EcoDiesel

Ahh good to know- I was basing my concern on the TFL video with an eco diesel JL that had pretty low payload- 800lbs or so as I remember. They did seem confused about the weights though- maybe the placard was incorrect- I think they ended up weighing it and the spec was off a bit.
  16. Nice honest review on EcoDiesel

Unless Jeep changes something on the JT differently than they did on the JL, the payload reduction from the added weight of the diesel will make it pretty unattractive to those who intend to use the JT for its truck purposes. For example a gas Rubicon really has just enough payload (1200lb) to...
  17. Jeep Gladiator is Struggling

I hear you on the family part- my wife and I have a 5 yo and 3yo. We used to have a 3 row durango and a ram 2500 crew cab. Started towing less and I went to the F150 super crew. Then my wife went to the JL, and I now have the JT. We used to think we needed a ton of space- then realized we...
  18. So many used Gladiators on the market.

Some of the listings I've seen locally are actually dealer demos that they are now listing as used. Not sure what the reasoning is, typically they would be sold as new still. I actually checked one out that I thought was used before I bought new- it was listed as used at a Ford dealership...
  19. Jeep Gladiator is Struggling

Exactly- I have always found myself getting tired and bored of the 1/2 tons Ive owned. In a sense with all the new car like features in 1/2 tons and massive cabs the trade off for me is they now feel like a minivan with a bed. The JT brings back an almost old school-cool truck feeling, while...
  20. Jeep Gladiator is Struggling

I had this debate with myself for months. Always driven full size trucks, never even considered midsize before. Really struggled with the more truck for less money issue. Drove a Rebel and really considered buying it. Finally settled on the JTR with the logic that it all depends on how you...
